Grand National Day:
Imperial Commander will be aiming today to become only the third horse to win both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National.
Only Golden Miller in 1934 and L'Escargot in 1975 have previously achieved the feat.
At 12 years old, Imperial Commander is the same age Red Rum was when he won his third Grand National in 1977.
Sam Twiston-Davies will ride Imperial Commander, trained by his father Nigel, for the first time in the 2013 race.

The Gloucestershire Society for Botanical Illustration is holding it’s Annual Exhibition at Nature in Art, Wallsorth Hall, Twigworth, Gloucester from 26th March, to 7th April, 2013.

The GSBI was formed in 1993 by Michael Hickey and is celebrating it’s 20th year in 2013.
Michael Hickey trained in horticulture and then competed his teacher-training at St. Paul’s College, Cheltenham in the 1950’s. He taught at Brockworth Secondary School for fifteen years before retiring to follow his botanical interests in plant-life and it’s illustration. He taught Botanical art to adult groups, inspiring many of us to continue into the GSBI. It’s aim is to encourage and promote an interest in botanical illustration in all its aspects. The Society holds an Annual Exhibition which, this year, is at Nature in Art, Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, from 26th March, to 7th April.
The Group includes artists who exhibit at the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) and have been awarded prestigious Gold or Silver Medals. Unfortunately, pictures which have been submitted for this Exhibition to be held at the Westminster Hall in April 2013, have already been taken to London. But maybe we will be able to see ones that were hung in London in previous years!
The Group is open to anyone with an interest in botany. Some of our Members are botanists, not artists; or just collectors of botanical art books. GSBI promotes up to four workshops a year in different media or botanical subject.
