We've got a big weekend coming up for PA chess!

Saturday, April 6 is the PA State G/29 championships at the University of Pittsburgh!

Sunday, April 7 is Round 7 of the Pittsburgh Chess League, and the last installment of the PCL Quick Quads for the 2012-2013 season!

April 6-7, the Donald Byrne Memorial is on the campus of Penn State University! This tournament will feature open and scholastic sections.

Finally, over 100 PA students will participate in SuperNationals V, the largest chess tournament in the world, in Nashville, TN, April 5-7!

We'll post individually about each of the PA tournaments later today. If you're going to one of them, share the post with your friends! Also, take some pictures and send them to us here! Help send the UT Dallas Chess Team off to the biggest collegiate chess tournament with a pep rally Wednesday, April 3, at 12:15 p.m. in the Student Union.
Temoc, the Pep Band and the UT Dallas cheerleaders will be on hand to give the event a full measure of Comet spirit. There will also be free pizza.
The Team will play life-sized chess after the rally.
UT Dallas will compete in the President’s Cup, considered the “Final Four” of chess, on April 6-7. The event will be in Washington, D.C, and will feature UT Dallas’ team, as well as those from Webster University, The University of Maryland, Baltimore County and The University of Illinois.

Last year’s tournament marked UT Dallas’ 12th consecutive appearance in the President’s Cup. The University’s team has competed in each Final Four since its inception in 2001, winning or tying for first place five times.

Two rounds yesterday, three rounds today. The last round began at 7pm and our last player finished at 10:45pm. We start again Sunday at 9am with out last two rounds of play, 9am and 2pm. Both Tyler Darnell in the U1250 division and Patrick Caton in the U750 division have a very good chance of finishing in the top ten or higher nationally in their divisions. And, our U1250 team has a strong chance of finishing in the top ten nationally. We'll know Sunday!!
There are over 5000 K-12 chess players here in Nashville, Tenn. and the Convention Center is crowded with chess players from all around the country. We counted over a dozen different license plates in the parking lot and a very diverse population of players...Mr. Treadway
