Congratulations to Kristy Sakano, a student at East Forsyth High School for earning her Girl Scout Gold Award (Highest Honor in Scouting) for her project with Next Step Ministries. The project focused on bringing Dating Violence and Bullying Awareness to our community. Kristy researched the signs and symptoms of dating violence, and made a display board, bookmarks and other materials to speak to other young people on the dangers of dating violence. She presented her findings to groups at her school and joined NSM at outreach events. We are very proud of Kristy's accomplishments and thankful for her choice to help NSM reach out to her peers and sharing the importance of staying safe.

As you know Renee Jones lost her daughter, Desiree Jones, to a tragic car accident in September 2012. Desiree was very passionate about cheerleading. In memory of Desiree, a scholarship fund has been established by her former cheerleading coach, Cathy Wright. The purpose of the scholarship is to aid financially a current senior cheerleader in pursing her future educational goals.

There are seven Senior Cheerleaders at Forsyth County Reagan High School. One of these ladies will become the chosen candidate for the Desy Jones Memorial Cheerleading Scholarship.
