A little while after ordering, Doug pipes up and says a little impatiently, "Where is this Chinese coming from? Japan?"

Civil War quote of the day:
(On July 1, 1863, Maj. Gen. John Reynolds and the Union I Corps arrived on the field at Gettysburg, PA. He sent a courier with the following message to Gen. George Meade in Taneytown, MD)
"Gen. Meade,
The enemy are advancing from the west in strong force and I feel they may be successful in getting to the heights south of town before I can. I will fight them inch by inch to prevent them from obtaining it, and if I am driven back into the town, I intend to barricade the streets and hold them off as long as possible until the rest of the army can reach the field."
--Gen. John F. Reynolds, Cmdg. Gen., I Corps Army of the Potomac

Meade HQ Leister House Garden Spring Clean Up: Sunday, APRIL 28
MEET AT THE LEISTER HOUSE, GETTYSBURG NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK,
GETTYSBURG, PA @ 10:30 AM
LOCATION: Taneytown Road at the intersection of Hunt Avenue.
Well, fellow historians and gardeners......it is gardening time once again!
Let us welcome spring as we toil and sweat once again in the sacred earth at the Leister Garden! With so much accomplished during the past few clean-ups, we have reached a point where it should be a little easier from here on. A little weed pulling and herb trimming should be all we need do.
All that is needed is for you to bring your gloves. The National Park Service will provide tools. We will also trim the bushes and tree limbs and maybe add a little white washing to the fence. That should do it for this time around.
We are hoping for a perfect day - we have been very lucky! Of course, we will all join up at the Farnsworth House for lunch afterwards compliments of the General Meade Society of Philadelphia, and thanks to the Nourishment and Libations Coordinator, Betty McCormick.
Hope to see you all there. Any questions give me a call.

Good Morning Gettysburg Pa...we love it here. Plan to be home tonight. Had dinner last night at my favorite restaurant O"rourkes, great Irish pub, it amazes me that even off season, this town is buzzing with business. There were 26 people waking down the street in a ghost tour, on a Thurs??? And it was cold! You couldnt pay me to do that! Some folks really are into that stuff.. I enjoy the history, and I always learn something new here. Looking forward to spending time with family when I get home, cant wait to see them. And looking forward to dance class in Rome on Monday Night, and Tuesday Night in Illion. We are about 4 hours from NY.

Just finish painting the hair barrettes. Now to print maps and pack clothes. I forgot how much work it is to prep for a show. Especially, when you have done so in a while. All the little things get unpacked and you have to go searching for them. :)

What a great day at One Dish Cuisine; so many old friends and new ones in today. I had the most wonderful surprise that made my day, my friend Cheryl and her husband Jim came in from Gettysburg, PA to have a meal. Cheryl has dedicated herself to bettering the lives of those with Celiac Disease in the Gettysburg area and it was an honor and pleasure to be able to serve both of them safe and healthy Gluten Free Food. Thank you Cheryl for all you have done for the Gettysburg Celiac Support Group and for taking the time to come see what we are doing here at One Dish Cuisine!
