I greet and thank you for taking time to help lay the tomb to bury the challenge called poverty and all its companions like unemployment, discrimination just to name but a few.
For those who will claim that they were not invited lets remind each other that it is not in our culture to prepare invitation cards to a funeral.

Let’s take the lead in burying this menace as it has outlived its welcome and empower ourselves as youths no matter the different sectors we operate in.

Nehanda Nyakasikana left a good example for all of us through her sacrifices. Even her name says it all, Nyakasikana meaning a young girl. But now when we talk of her we say “VAKURU VAKATI” The elders said. So the question is “what age is considered to be an elder” even most of us are older than Nehanda Nyakasikana was when she told all those proverbs to people and it clearly gives the impression that it’s not about age but the achievement.

I would like to challenge youths that your accomplishment is more greatly recognized when people notice the hard circumstances you had to face and at the same time succeed. So let’s all not spend time waiting for people to pity us on our misfortunes but let’s make them see how we can make it with or without added privileges then stop the blame game and become the center of our development.

At IYA it is our greatest wish to be the pinnacle of hope and a vehicle towards development amongst youths.

It is my greatest wish as a leader and also as a youth to see the day where all forms of discrimination being wiped away into the dust bins of history and embrace a better future for us all.
