All aboard….Blackpool’s Resort Hopper has hit the streets and is up and running.

Blackpool has launched the special Resort Hopper bus to enable visitors to get round the resort’s top attractions stress free.

The Resort Hopper, operated by Blackpool Transport, provides a service every 30 minutes transporting people between Marton Mere Holiday Park and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, taking in all the attractions along the way.

The bus stops at Blackpool Zoo, Stanley Park, Blackpool Model Village, Sandcastle Waterpark, The Blackpool Tower and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The service has been launched with a day saver rate from just £2 for children and £3.50 for adults, tourism and transport bosses are hoping visitors and residents alike will reap the benefits of the service.
Day Saver tickets can also be purchased at PayPoint Shops or Blackpool Transport Travel Centres.

35TH ANNUAL GCCC SCHOLARSHIP AUCTION BRINGS IN OVER $170,000
"Wild, Wild West" event raises funds for academic and technical scholarships

The Finney County Exhibition Building became the "Wild, Wild West" April 5 when an estimated 1,000 people arrived for the 35th Annual Garden City Community College Endowment Association Scholarship Auction. With an Old West decorative theme, the event cashed in about 11 p.m. Friday with a preliminary gross total of $173,310 for GCCC academic and technical scholarships.
"It was a truly wonderful night not only for our guests, but also for the hundreds of GCCC students who will benefit from the scholarship dollars that were raised," Association Executive Director Jeremy J. Gigot said of the southwest Kansans and others who came to bid on donated goods and services, as well as to spend the evening at one of the community's largest gatherings of the year.
Zach Gigot of Garden City and a GCCC alumnus was the winner of the 2013 silver coast metallic Cadillac ATS as his name was pulled out in the donation drawing from among 800 tickets. He was one of 13 finalists whose names were drawn from the contest hopper at intervals throughout the night. The main event was a 101-item live auction conducted by Scott Auction of Garden City, supplemented with a 300-plus item silent auction. The doors opened at 6 p.m., with the silent sale getting under way at 6:30 p.m., followed by the live auction at 7:30.

PRELIMINARY TOTALS
Preliminary totals Monday morning showed a tally of $72,139 in live auction revenue, plus $18,761 in silent auction income. Another $20,000 came in from admission wristband sales, $40,000 from the car drawing, $2,910 in a 13-item casino pit-themed fish bowl drawing for cash and prizes, $1,500 in a Las Vegas Trip Giveaway drawing and $18,000 in donations.
The apparent top draw of the night, however, was the $8,500 purchase of an African Hunting Safari for two people scheduled for August 2014 donated by Southwest Kansas Office Leasing. Also bringing in a winning bid of $4,100 was a full Orthodontic Care Package donated by Dr. Tim Hannigan and his wife, Christine. In addition, a full golf annual membership given by The Golf Club at Southwind, along with initiation fee and full clubhouse and pool access, brought in $2,200.
Two round-trip tickets to any location in the Continental U.S., Canada or Mexico brought in $1,700 and were donated by American Airlines. A $1,000 gift card donated by J & M Paint sold for $1,225. Another big ticket item which sold for $1,950 was the annual Beef It Up Barbecue offered by Tyson Fresh Meats and Black Hills Energy, including steaks and all the traditional trimmings for 50 people valued at $1,000.
The numbers will be adjusted later, Gigot said, since organizers will need to double check each figure, sell a handful of items that didn't draw bids in the silent auction and factor in expenses.
