I went to see when the documentary Off The Rez on it's page, was going to be broadcast again, it is actually this Tuesday, during the championship game. (lol) On one of the Discovery Channels. Anyway, while I was on the page. I saw some guy comment that although he respects them, he don't see the big deal because their rez looks nicer than his. (And he is Lakota) I had to respond. Who is he kidding? These young sisters are playing Division 1 ball and in the Championship game? I hope they inspire all young girls on reservations everywhere in basketball and more to know that there are no limits. And I saw parts of the documentary, they had stray dogs strollin' around too. I know for one, every TV in the house was tuned into the the same channel during the game last night and it was the first time that ever happened. And a majority of my friends list too, on facebook and twitter. I love the way the Schimmel sisters are uniting us all.

Larkspur Park Tennis News
The finals of the Munster Winter League took place in Nenagh on Saturday 6th April. Crisp bright sunshine and not a drop of rain in sight saw the top two teams from division six to division one do battle for the sought after Munster Championship Tennis title.
These finals have traditionally been held in Cork but Nenagh certainly set a very high standard for other clubs who aspire to host finals in future. The lovely touches of presenting each player with a gift bag upon registration, assisted car parking, fantastic BBQ, very welcoming staff, player only raffle, buns and ice-cream for the kids, endless tea, coffee, scones and lots of other small details that made players and spectators feel very welcome and involved in the days’ activities.
Usual Ryan, Sinead Dunne, Moss Ahern and Gareth McGlinchey represented our club in the division two final against St Anne's from Waterford. The first round of matches started at 11.30 with Ursula and Moss winning their mixed doubles comfortably in two sets. Gareth also won his singles in a comfortable two set match so all eyes were on Sinead in the ladies singles. Sinead won the first set and looked comfortable at the start of the second set but Michelle Kirby from St Anne’s did not give up and battled hard to win the second set in a tie-break and went on to win the third set. This was a great game lasting nearly three hours and gripping for the supporters watching.
After a short break the ladies and men's doubles got underway, Moss and Gareth won the first set, lost the second going to a third set thriller. Ursula and Sinead lost the first set in a tie-break, won the second set, also going to a third set. The men finished first winning the third set and the ladies lost in the third set a short time later but overall, our team won 3-2. It was a very close battle and with both teams playing good solid tennis. This is a fantastic achievement to win a grade two competition for a club who, only a couple of years ago, did not have any grade two players.
The presentations were held later in the bar lead by the President of the Munster Branch giving out the prizes followed by a raffle and music in the bar. Well done to our winning Team and a big thanks to all the supporters who travelled to Nenagh on Saturday. Very special thanks goes out to everybody in Nenagh tennis Cub for the great day and we have been invited for a night of social tennis which I’m sure will be great fun for all.
Benny Dudley had to rush from Nenagh to Limerick Lawn where he was competing with Jerry Shanahan in the over 45's mens doubles veterans competition. They won their first round match on Saturday evening but unfortunately lost in the semi-final on Sunday morning.
In other club news, it is intended that the Park will be opened fully in the next couple of weeks. We are still waiting for our lights to be delivered and installed but the progress so far is fantastic. Once the lights are in action, we will finish off the winter league and start planning the events over the summer in the club. Courts are open at the moment so pick up you racquet and get back in to play some Tennis.

Local tweens and teens who want to learn a new way to play games and socialize through off-line play can come to the Somerset Public Library to learn how to play some role-playing games. The Game Den of 16 Cutler Street, Warren, Rhode Island will be joining up with the Somerset Public Library to demonstrate and teach kids how to play some light role-playing games like Munchkin and Red Dragon Inn. These role-playing games are tabletop games in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional fantasy setting. Both of these games are played with cards and other pieces that help build the character and setting and create the story. Volunteers will be available to help attendees learn how to play through the games. Bring your kids ages 10 and up to this fun and creative activity at the Somerset Public Library located at 1464 County Street (Rt. 138) in Somerset, Wednesday April 10th at 6 pm and they will learn lifelong skills about strategy and creativity.
