So after 2,5 week we can start living in the real world again! What a great fights where there in the candidate matches! An incredible high level and a definitely great last rounds, offcourse the last round was great, but the comeback of Kramnik was also remarkable !! (this could have been written only on 1 april), al credits to Ivanchuk and Svidler for their great fight and well deserved win in the last round !!! Carlsen is a great finalist offcourse, though Kramnik was very close. I am sure the match against Anand will not be so exciting as this tournament was! I am also happy to see that Ivanchuk maybe was not in his best form by losing a lot of positions on time, but at least he won agains both the winners in convincing games in my opinion!
Chess is a great game, with and without computers ;-)

So it will be Magnus Carlsen of Norway who is going to challenge the current world chess champion Vishy Anand.
Both Carlsen and Kramnik lost thier matches today and ended at tied first. Fortune favored the brave but must say Magnus was a touch lucky. Congrats to him!

In a very bizzare twist, the two leaders of the chess candidates tournament both lost their games in the last round to lower ranked players. This means that Carlsen wins the tournament on tie-break points (he won one more game than Kramnik) and will soon be playing a match against World Chess Champion Anand for the world title.
I am sure someone will be searching to see if anyone ever won a top flight tournament despite losing two of his last three games. Another strange result is that Ivanchuk managed to beat both Carlsen and Kramnik in rounds 12 and 14. Yet Ivanchuk also lost 5 games on time in this tournament. Very few grandmasters ever lose this way even once in their careers. You don't become a grandmaster if you can't manage your time.
In any case- congratulations to Magnus Carlsen!
