Do You Know The Happiest Man Today?

Some five years ago or more, when I observed my clarion call to the Nation as a copper in Plateau State, I met a 16 year old boy.

While having a conversation on life generally, he said...

"If I was privileged to come from a rich family like you, I would be a Medical Doctor instead of an Okada Rider by now..."

In smiling I said, tell me about your "poor" family.

After he explained his so called "poor" family to me, I told him, "with all sincerity & seriousness left in me, if I was born in your family, I would have had a Ph.D by now.

This is because, the truth is that your family is thrice (if not more) richer than mine.

Your dad is a farmer, owns about ten Okadas; riding for him including the one with you, has some plantations.....

My dad didn't see bicycle to ride. I didn't inherit any spoke belonging to any bicycle.

I snapped pictures at UNEC, Ziks Flat-UNN, wait-&-take at weddings, I learn and did welding work several years, I learn & do house wiring (both conduit & surface), I learn and do Vox mechanic perfectly, I repair & install computers, I learn and do computer networking & installs smoke detectors, soft touch access control security doors.....(at this point, his mouth never closed again) but I did all those....to raise money for my secondary school & university.

" Amazed he looked at me.....

Then I told him, "we become what we are in life not because our odds & circumstances permit, but because our WILL is firm.

Hold on to whatever it is you want to be, against turbulent winds, against opposing odds, against our discouraging world, hold on to your dream...and it shall be yours.

He woke me up with a call this morning saying, happy Easter in arrears and he also said I should thank God for him for he passed his second MBBS...

I've never been happier......

We are defeated in life when we refuse to dare!

I am that happiest man, today!

Ezra 1:2–4

Though he had torn the Israelites away from their land, God kept his promise to restore them as a nation and rebuild their temple. Much to everyone’s surprise, God compelled a pagan ruler to fulfill his divine design to build his temple.

It may seem that your life is in tatters—all you see is ruins where you once saw progress. You may feel discouraged, but don’t give up. God is a builder, and a very creative one at that. Against all odds, he will use kings or commoners to restore your life to his intended design.

I want to give a big Thank you to GOD.
This journey has not been easy and i have cried myself to sleep, but God has been here for us. We have been told that it would be best to let Jayden go twice and we refused to let him go . The day Jayden was separated from his brother Joshua he took a turn for the worst and we where told he might not make it thru the night , he has had 2 surgeries and has 2 more surgeries he has to have according to the docs but we have faith he wont need them.
The day Joshua was transferred to be with his brother , Jayden started to get better because they where born hugging each other and they have a special bond. We recently got the news that Jaydens hemorrhage caused a cyst/hole in his brain and that he might never talk ,walk ,hear , or see if he survives . But we believe Jayden is healed from head to toe.

With all the talk about North Korea from all the talking head news pundits and from Senators and Representatives, where is Obama on the threat from Kim Jong-un? Why have we heard almost NOTHING from President Obama?

I have written, Produced, Performed and Directed Plays, for the Kenya National Drama Festivals up top National Level, I have also been an adjudicator and Trainer at various levels for several years....Now on this BANNED Butere Girls Play, I have just seen the script and spoke to several producers and the National Drama Chairman too and I have to say SYMBOLISM cannot be sacrificed in a creative art competition involving schools, the primary audience for this plays is schools, you cannot have a play that plainly attacks any community, the scripts for this festival are supposed to be intellectual, humorous and critical of society and especially should address issues of the child at the level of play - Primary, High School, College or University.......I agree with the decision, Especially because the producer was advised severally to change the script and adopt symbolism to pass his message but he resisted...

A big thank you to Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America for their efforts to help pass our bill to prevent gun violence in Maryland. It is critical that ordinary Americans -- including moms and dads -- continue making their voices heard in the debate to make America safer. We made progress in Maryland, and we should all work together to demand progress from Congress soon. Thanks again.

‘Servant Chieftain’
If a leader is subdued but visibly show influence and power in a time and place of unexpected storm and ferocious revolution, where no person, no nation has full control over the course of history thereafter, they possess passive virtues. I mean deep down each one of us, when you strip away all those layers, all those labels, we’ re all human beings and we’re connected by certain things that we need in our lives and love the most including power. If power is the ability to influence the behaviour of others and the course of events they manage, then writers too have achieved. Writing filled with poignancy, symbolism and yes, substance brings one of the most unexpected moments historically that quell acrimonious disputes between protagonists and induce cordial relationships.

Behind every towering figure, from Martin Luther King to Nelson Mandela, there was hardly a ‘touchy-feely’ but most likely they wore a heart on their sleeves and used passion to effect power. We often think of them standing tall in front of these endless crowds, stirring their nation’s conscience with a bellowing voice and a mighty dream. But also think of their doubts.... the lonely moments when they were left to confront the presence of long-festering injustices and undisguised hate. Imagine the darkness and doubt that must have surrounded them when they were incarcerated in jails and the anger that surely rose up in them the times their homes and loved ones were attacked. No wonder someone said forgiveness albeit difficult is wisdom. Peace albeit trite is what I want in my short life. Always choose sanity and magnanimity because quitting is leading too.

As a citizen, my commitment to the ideals I have long held of ethics and justice remain unshaken. I pray we remain vigilant in this dispension lest it’s abrogated. We must not relent in our fight to stand smart for what is right, true and just for all- not just the privileged few. Martin Luther King said- “our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. My hope for us all is that our lives continue to thrive as we continue to act, write and speak on the things that matter- against all odds and gagging. Let us have limited patience for public figures that foul up in a spectacular fashion, making everyone look like Muppets. Don’t give them a break and a second chance... unless and as long as they stand up like men or women and admit they screwed up, say they’re sorry and look like they damn well mean it. Hey! Granting pardon is an asset too.

The fascinating thing with a public office and offering oneself to public service should be, the longer you’re in it, the more humble one should get and the more one should recognise their own imperfections. Leaders should realize what they don’t know and recognize all the mistakes they made and reconcile with their virtues. They should don the etiquette, decorum and demeanour that befit the stature they have assumed and not playing their usual Jekyll and Hyde. Comrades! A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when we add to that a literate tongue or pen, then we will have something very special. (Written by SamWan)
