In more pleasant news, Brian is in and out this week (mostly out), so I have covered the house top to bottom with all things fiber! I've got dyepots going, fiber drying, silk noil at the dining room table ready to be carded, handspun hanging from the chandelier drying, batts lined up next to my wheel, knitting projects all over the coffee table, a laundry basket full of batts, roving, and yarn ready to be listed in the shop. It's fabulous. I'm going to get a lot of work done this week and have a ton of fun having a fiber slumber party with myself.

A Windy Win in Wenatchee

The Spokane Wolfpack, coached by Travis Herzog and Jim Nendel, (ranked 3rd in the Washington Football League) kicked off their 2013 campaign with a win in a Pre-Season game versus The Wenatchee Valley Rams (ranked 1st in the WFL). The ‘Pack arrived in Wenatchee to a beautiful, clear, sunny day, but were hampered a bit in the passing game due to large gusts of wind.

It was a battle of tough defense and creative offenses that riddled the Eastmont Junior High football field that finally ended in a 28 – 19 Wolfpack win.

The Wolfpack offense wasted no time and began the game by scoring on the third offensive play with a 40 yard catch and run by #4 Waylon Harness from #11 Zack Clow. The Rams responded with their own 80 yard drive capping it off with a rushing touchdown and missed extra point to bring the score to 7 – 6.

During the second quarter, The Wolfpack orchestrated a short 30 yard drive of their own as #7 Bobby Hughes punched it in for a 3 yard Touchdown run. The Rams showed resiliency by answering with their own score but failed to tie the game with a two point conversion making the score at halftime 14 – 12.

Early in the 3rd Quarter, The Rams made adjustments and were able to sustain a drive to finish with a touchdown, making the score 19 – 14. Wolfpack answered in style on a 20 yard scramble-lateral by #2 Martea Johnson to #4 Harness which resulted in a 80 yard touchdown. This allowed the Wolfpack to regain the lead 21 – 19.

The defense showed their teeth in a hard hitting bought that saw multiple players post multiple tackles. The ‘Pack D also has a nose for the ball, Safeties #22 Marcus Parker and #6 Chris Kirk both had interceptions as did linebacker #20 Mike Glenn. Cornerback #2 Johnson iced the game with a interception of his own in the late minutes of the game.

The Wolfpack was able to finish the game with a 10 yard pass from #3 Kenny Yetter to #80 Cameron Hubbard making the final score 28 – 19!

The Wolfpack (1 – 0) look to continue their solid all-around play April, 13th when they head to Waitsburg to play the 0 – 1 Elite. Kickoff is at 3pm in Waitsburg Washington. For more information please visit TheSpokaneWolfpack.com
