Training Opportunity for citizens
- Community Emergency Response Team

Webster County Emergency Management will be hosting the 2013 CERT Academy. This year's academy will be held at the Elderbridge Agency on Aging Conference Center, 308 Central Avenue, Fort Dodge, Class will be held every Thursday evening beginning May 16th through July 11th from 6:30pm - 10:00pm
(excluding July 4th). There is no cost to attend the class.

The CERT program will offer training in:

* Disaster Preparedness

* Fire Safety

* Disaster Medical Operations

* Light Search and Rescue

* CERT Organization (under ICS)

* Disaster Psychology

* Basic Terrorism Awareness

* Course Review with a Tabletop Disaster Simulation

The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for all-hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplaces following an event or major disaster when professional responders
are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more proactive role in emergency preparedness projects within their community.
