Comrade Oyeleye Emmanuel Oyeyemi (Egalitarian) wrote;
-Contrary to the Ogun's Government Opinion to delist TASUED as acclaimed by Vanguard Online.
1. Since the assumption of office of the current appointed Vice-Chancellor by his Excellence Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun State Governor), she -Professor Oluyemisi Obilade has consistently reiterated that she has not been given the mandate of an undertaker or a liquidator to TASUED.
2. The University under the new leadership currently enjoys a very productive and supportive relationship with the government of Ogun State. This is reflected in the State government renewed commitment and support to the University by granting her:
(i.) a brand new car to the University for the official use of the Vice Chancellor.
(ii.) approval to the University to access
TETFUND grant.
(iii.) approval to the University for continued recognition by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Meanwhile earlier today, INDICATION sourced from Vanguard Online has emerged that Ogun State government may have delisted the first University of Education, Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, from the list of its tertiary institutions.
Vanguard gathered that the government removed TASUED from the list of state-owned tertiary institutions as contained in the 2013 diary of the state.
In the diary, the State government listed six state-owned tertiary institutions; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye; Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta; Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu, College of Health Technology, Ilese and Gateway Industrial and Petro-Gas Institute, Oni.
It would be recalled that the state government had last year announced its plan to convert TASUED, Ijagun, to an institute under the Faculty of Education at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye which was widely condemned by stakeholders.
The development prompted some stakeholders to drag the State government to court over the plan to scrap the institution.
The court which dismissed the suit over lack of substance, urged the government to ensure the law that established the University was repealed before scrapping it.
The University was established by the immediate-past administration of former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel, swelling the number of the state-owned tertiary institutions to seven.
The state is still the only state with the largest number of tertiary institutions both public and private. It has 19 tertiary institutions.
Our position:
(I.) We appeal to Governor Amosun to urgently constitute the Governing Council of the university.
(II.) We call on the governor to visit the
institution campus in order for him to see the level of infrastructural development TASUED has achieved.
(III.) We demand proper and effective implementation of the Educational Trust Fund (ETF) meant for TASUED development and growth.
(IV.) Your Excellency should ensure the release of our own (TASUED) Mass Transit Bus as given out to OOU, MAPOLY and FEDPOLY, Ilaro."
Long Live and God Bless TASUED
