My school is Bluebonnet Trail Elementary School in the Manor Independent School District, just East of Austin, TX (just a 15 minute drive from the city center!) BTE is a small school with a great principal, fabulous kids and many excellent teachers who provide a wonderful learning & teaching environment. Manor ISD is a small district near Austin with a visionary Fine Arts Director and widespread support for the arts among upper administration in Central Office. I believe there is job security here because Manor ISD was the only district I know of in Central Texas that did not cut a single Fine Arts position during the education budget cuts in Texas that have happened over the past 5 years.

I love my school and I want to hand the torch to someone awesome who can continue to grow the BTE music program. The top three qualities in a candidate, in my opinion, are 1) spirit: energy, enthusiasm and love of kids 2) dynamic teaching style with lots of playfulness and game-playing in all grades 3) balance of choral skills and instrumental skills (classroom instruments, recorders, plus hopefully minimal violin experience to take over the afterschool lessons program). If candidates apply early enough, then I will hopefully be able to weigh in the decision-making process. Thank you all!
