Pick you battles. If something you want strongly is not what the majority around you want, you will not win your preference by beating them with a stick. Violence and anger and abusive responses will NEVER convince someone of what you think. When you choose to comment or simply criticize someone with a meaningless response statement that is intended to hurt them, you will not ever win, even if they seem to be controlled by you. you are just a bully not a winner.

Chose words wisely. But also listen or read wisely. Do not always assume everyone is against you or what you stand for. If you choose to immediately attack someone in responding (after they have opened themselves up by risking taking a position but done so without hate or aggression but simply trying to get people to think and discuss), by not making the effort to try to understand their reasoning, your point of view ceases to have merit instantly.
