Where are the black cartoons? Why is there not any cartoons on disney that star black characters. Sure there are 1 or 2 staple black characters but all of there friends are white and the shows are geared toward a white audience. Whats up Disney, Nick, Nick jr.... We need black cartoons... And not the Boondocks type stuff...

Working as a school resource officer at Central School in north Santa Rosa County was supposed to be slower paced than being on patrol, Santa Rosa sheriff’s Deputy Thomas “J.R.” Enfinger said.
After 13 years working on patrol, as a detective and on the SWAT team, he was going to a 9-to-5 job at his alma mater.
But, Enfinger said, he ended up taking a liking to a few of the students. Now, he’s working a lot more than 40 hours a week.
“I wanted to get away from being on the road,” Enfinger, 35, said. “I kind of just wanted to be a loner. This school changed everything.”
After Enfinger was hired last year, he said he wanted to get more involved. He ended up taking three seniors – Nick Waters, 18, T.J. Beasley, 19, and Wendall Cooley, 18 – under his wing after they asked for his help in getting noticed by college basketball and baseball coaches.
Enfinger, who never misses one of their games, complied.
He wrote about 200 letters to try to get the trio noticed by colleges in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Enfinger played baseball and basketball when he attended the rural Central School in the mid-1990s. He said he wanted to give them a push that many at Central, with only about 500 students, don’t get.
“Without somebody just sticking their neck out for somebody, these kids would never get looked at by anybody because of as far out as we are,” Enfinger said.
College opportunities
Now, the teens said, colleges from throughout the South have shown interest in their baseball abilities.
Beasley and Cooley have colleges in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama looking at them, though they said they haven’t signed with anyone just yet.
“I never had a conversation with a college coach ... until this year,” Cooley said.
Meanwhile, Waters was offered a full ride to play basketball at Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton, Ala. He accepted the offer and is expected to sign with the school on Wednesday.
The teens, who all have been in school together since they were in kindergarten, said the idea of playing sports in college wasn’t something they thought possible. They didn’t know what their future would be.
Enfinger, they said, mentored them more than any other teacher or coach in the school had in the past, and it made them work that much harder when practicing.
“He’s the one that’s pushed us,” Cooley, 18, said. “This year, it’s a lot easier to go out there and make yourself (practice) when you’re knowing somebody’s trying to get you to the new level.”
Above and beyond
Watching the trio interact with Enfinger may seem a bit odd. They don’t treat him like a cop, even though he wears his green uniform and his gun. They horse around, and make fun of him, and he reciprocates.
It’s relaxed, and it’s the type of relationship the best teachers try to have with their students.
Enfinger stressed that he will discipline any student, regardless of their relationship, if he needs to.
But it’s clear he has earned their respect, and probably would have, even without the uniform. He knows all the players on the team, but he has really stuck his neck out for these three.
“I don’t think I’d like to be a resource officer in any other school, but being that this was my hometown ... I thought I’d fit in well with the people here and I actually fit in real well with the kids,” Enfinger said
Central’s principal, Farica King, said she has seen the deputy go above and beyond to help keep the trio on the right path.
“He doesn’t have to do the things he does. It’s not part of their job. He’s not an educator,” King said.
Beasley, Cooley and Waters are set to graduate in June. Enfinger said he wants to do this for more students next year. Word is spreading, though, and he said a few students are already reaching out.
“I already got some more lined up,” he said
