Wow - can't believe the invective on FB tonight. Maggie was divisive, and out of touch with the electorate, but:
- she stood up to Argentina over the Falklands
- she stood up to America over the Falklands, who didn't want GB to make a fuss
- she stood up to Europe over the Common Agricultural Policy and much else
- she stood up to the union bosses (who had had a Labour government jerking on their line resulting in the winter of discontent) on the basis that is was better for an elected government to run the country rather than a handful of unelected, unrepresentative marxists
- she beat runaway inflation: if you're old enough you'll remember products on shelves with several price stickers on them as they'd got more expensive just sitting there.
- she recognised that government running of industries led to huge inefficiencies and huge subsidies from the tax payer, so sold them off to people that wanted to spend the money, bringing money back to the tax payer (us) and reducing taxes across the board (not just for the rich)
But then she went a bit bonkers. Poll tax was a mistake, she treated Scotland with particular contempt, she was arrogant beyond belief and should have left after two terms (ahem - Tony Blair???). It's impossible to tell how things would be if someone else had run the country, but I think overall we would be poorer, and much more inextricably wrapped into Europe.

First run-through of the full play Sunday, soup to nuts, no stopping, aaannd off book no less. If that is anxiety-producing enough, the playwright was in attendance (not un-announced, mind you), arriving about one minute after "opening curtain". Fortunately, Act 1 was already pretty solid, so line calling was minimized. At intermission, everyone got to meet Mr. Manley, who offered a positive initial assessment, putting all at ease enough that we only stumbled through Act 2 a couple times, mostly in those trouble spots we have still been layering on the polish anyway. More work to do, but by the closing curtain, the author was very pleased with what he had seen and heard. We all left the hall feeling more comfortable, and eager to get back to work to shine it all up. Two weeks to opening night. I know it's gonna fly by, and before you know it, we'll be closing, sharing tearful farewells to new friends. Live theatre - not much better.

Those who have rooted their Android device likely know the term ADB. That same group likely also knows that those ADB drivers often come with some headaches in terms of having the process run through with nothing in terms of errors. For those who have yet to see that term, ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge and thanks to Koush, the process of installing ADB should now be quite a bit easier.

We should mention right up front that we are talking Windows, and not Mac. That distinction aside, Koush has released a new tool called Universal ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Driver for Windows. This is available as of today and comes with mention that it should “work on all Android phones and for all versions of Windows.”

Further details on the process note that this is done automatically by installing ClockworkMod as a trusted certificate and publisher into the local machine’s certificate store during the setup process. In short, those looking to root should now be covered regardless of which device they happen to have or which version of Windows they are currently using.

The Universal ADB Driver is available by way of github and can be found using this link and then grabbing the installer file from here. One item pointed out was that Windows 8 users will have to choose the “More Info” and “Run Anyway” options after downloading. Just like that, Koush has come through and made the process of setting up ADB that much simpler.
