So I am working on a tabletop setting which is set in a modern day earth, but in an alternate timeline. I just write up this summery of a current event in history. What do you guys think?
_______
The Great Beer Run was an event which nearly ended the third world war dew to the demoralization of the Roman and Russian Imperial troops. Mongolia was cut off on all sides by enemy forces had run out of beer and thus the moral of the warrior nation’s troops was suffering greatly. Too proud to outright ask for help from its allighs Avalon and Doitchlund, the Kahn simply mentioned in a casual manner in non-encoded communications that they were out of beer. This was met with such horror in the Irish troops of Avalon’s army that the message “Mongolia is out of beer.” spread overnight threw out Avalon’s mixed Irish, Scottish, and Norse army reserve members who in turn mobilized enmass, stripping down civilian vehicles and within a week constructing a fleet of 512 treaded tank like vehicles which could only be described as a beer keg made into a tank for the set of the Mad Max movies.
The Avalon Reserve members then outfitted their fleet for crossing bodies of water and forded the English Channel, landing on the Roman coast and blazing a wide swath of complete destruction in a beeline to Doitchlund. A Roman Centurion described the landing in words which would be the label for the entire event, “A fleet of enraged Scots-Irish and Norsemen drove up out of the sea in homemade tanks and leveled our coastal defenses playing old Celtic war tunes over loudspeakers and roaring ‘Mead for Mongols!’”
The fleet made it to Doitchlund in nearly the same amount of time it would have taken a family to travel in peacetime thanks in great part to many Roman officers ordering their troops to get out of its way, especially after the fleet reduced an entire city in its path to rubble rather than go around it. In Doitchlund the 493 remaining tanker tanks were filled to capacity with the best stocks the Germanic people could offer then rolled out, heading in another beeline for Mongolia, crossing threw Russian territory exactly as they had threw the Roman holdings. At one point the fleet blasted a tunnel clear threw a mountain range which serves as a trade route to this day. Finally arriving in Mongolia, the fleet unloaded its cargo of beer to the slack jawed Mongolians then simply turned around and left the way they had came. Of those who had set out 87% of the reserve troopers and 414 of the tanks made it back to Avalon, where the survivors were given various medals rather than a dishonorable discharge for deserting, after the Kahn phoned Avalon’s military to thank them for the great beer run.
