International Tabletop Day was a success! Amanda won Tsuro, Devlin won Cards Against Humanity (which I forgot at the time, and thought Christine won), and we killed the Scarecrow in A Touch Of Evil. Congrats to all the winners of the polyhedral dice!

A successful day of gaming for International Tabletop Day; Zombie Dice, Little Devils, Munchkin, Hex Hex, Flashpoint, Forbidden Island, Cards Against Humanity, and (ahem) Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre. There may have been others, it was a long day of nerd joy. :)

Tabletop Game day was a huge success! It was so much fun just hanging with everyone and playing all kinds of different game.

This Saturday we are hosting the new Kaijudo Duel Day, from 10 am to 6pm, you can keep track of you duels and earn the newest promo cards. This will happen each Saturday in April.

Also, this Saturday (April 6th), Manny is coming over from New Orleans to run a D&D Minis tourney. A 10 person, 100 point themed warband (like all orcs, or an adventuring party of wizards)

Hope to see ya'll there!

This was submitted to As Seen On Tabletop, the Tumblr I run for people to submit their stories and pictures from their tabletop gaming adventures:

"When I first heard about International Tabletop Day, I was very excited. Every day I typed the postcode of my nearest city into the page and was thrilled when I found an event listed. Growing up in regional Australia meant that I wasn’t exposed to gamer culture growing up – as an adult living in a city means there are opportunities to find other like-minded people and to share the joy of gaming with friends and family.

"But when the date drew near I realised that International Tabletop Day was on Holy Saturday. I couldn’t attend the big function I was so excited about. The Easter Holidays have always been spent at my parent’s house in a small coastal town. And this Easter was going to be a particularly difficult one. My father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in December, just before Christmas He was only in his early 60’s, and seemed healthy. His death has devastated our family, especially my mother. She has really struggled to come to terms with his death. There have been a lot of challenges in the past few months, especially with my younger sister leaving for a semester studying abroad in America just three weeks after Dad’s funeral. So this Easter would not only be spent without Dad, but without my sister as well.

"The rest of the family all headed down to Mum’s house for Easter. I wondered what could be done to make it less of a gloomy occasion. Inspiration struck – International Tabletop Day could still be marked. After dinner everyone sat around the dining room table and played Fluxx. It was suitably chaotic (I was the only person who had played Fluxx before) but soon everyone was laughing and groaning when the rules got more and more complex. Even though Mum had never played the game before, she won every game but two. I hadn’t seen her laugh so much or so hard since before Dad died. It helped bring everyone together for something joyous, a fitting was to pass the Vigil before the joys of Easter Day.

"So thank you, International Tabletop Day, for helping make our first Easter without Dad that little bit easier."

Stories like this just keep coming in, from all over the world, and I honestly don’t know how to fully process them. At the moment, all I can do is smile, weep joyfully a little bit, and feel immense gratitude to all the people who helped make Tabletop Day happen.

ALA families, the PTA is holding a one-day “flea market” to benefit the school’s budding theater department. Admission is free. It'll be Saturday May 18, beginning 8 a.m., inside the large and small cafeterias.
How to help:
* Donate your best stuff! Tools, electronics, sporting goods, housewares, tabletop accessories, etc. All we ask is that if has a function, it’s in working order and has all the parts necessary to be in working order. Got something you can donate? Please contact us at alaptafw@gmail.com. We will schedule days in which we’ll accept dropoffs at the school. More on that coming up this week.
* Want to sell your own stuff? Tables are available for $25 apiece, and you take away 100 percent of your proceeds. No sales of weapons or alcohol or anything else that violates school district policy. No sales of snacks or beverages. Please contact Scott Nishimura at alaptafw@gmail.com if you’re interested. Whatever you don’t sell, you must remove at the end of the day.
* Volunteer: We need help with organizing the event, setting up Friday afternoon and evening May 17, running the event, and cleaning up after it. We’re having a planning meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday April 11 in the Teacher’s Lounge. Please come!
* Donate cash to the cause. Our theater department, under the direction of our great teacher Maria Solano, has needs, including wireless mikes, flooring, painting, and more. We’ll be putting up a sponsorship menu this week that’s connected to those needs. Please be on the lookout for it!
* Auction: We’ll have a small silent auction of 20 items, including gift cards and tickets to favorite attractions.
* The PTA will be selling snacks and beverages, and the Spirit Store will be open.
* Advertising: This event will be supported by sponsored classified advertising in the Star-Telegram, posts on Craigslist and social media, outdoor signage around the school, and other public relations.
* What’s already been donated: Power tools and regular tools, 4-foot high Craftsman tool chest on wheels, Magnavox 25-inch color TV, six Elfa storage carts, sporting goods, and tons of housewares!

So after watching the Walking Dead season finale, I want to play a Walking Dead style RPG. A good, old fashioned zombie apocolypse RPG would be really fun, and amazingly simple to make (so much so that I am sure I could do it in a weekend).

So whats the downside? The fun part of Walking Dead is the people interaction, so the RPG would really only be fun for me watching you fight amongst yourselves lol
