I just got bad news from GW. Some of you probably heard the rumors that GW messed up and didn't produce anywhere enough of the new Tau models. I was notified that stores will not be receiving most of the new Tau models. So no Broadsides, Riptides, flyers, Commander Suit, so all the ones everyone wants. On the plus side we will be getting the Tau codex. GW is currently in the process of molding more figures.

The Tau are up for re-release. Interesting; of all the 40K races, the Tau are one that I've never been able to get into. Not that I find anything particularly incongruous about them with regards to the setting, but their aesthetic and general ethos is one that is too clean-cut for my tastes. That said, I do like the fact that much of the material produced on them thus far does go some way to highlighting the hypocrisy of the "Greater Good" philosophy, i.e. that it is simply a manipulative Utopian ideology used to excuse what is ultimately genocidal empire-building. It's also good that the Tau provide a genuine counter-balance to the Imperium, in that their empire is new and dynamic; expanding at an exponential rate, whereas the Imperium is ancient and cankered; ripe to the point of fomentation.

Considering the truly excellent work that was done regarding the Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels and Chaos Daemons, I'm actually rather excited to see what they pull out of the bag concerning the youngest of 40K species.
