Aintree 2013..... silvianco conti may have had a hard race in the gold cup so will be vulnerable to a fast finisher. Zarkanda takes on The New One and a slow pace will make the new one very hard to beat.. The festival kicks off with the Matalan anniversary over 2miles 110 yards and often goes to those at the front of the betting so watch the market for this one, L'unique is one i would be interested in at a bigger price if being followed in the market. The second race is one in which silvianaco Conti will take all the beating if recovered from Cheltenham, however i find this unlikely and would punt e,w for the lesser raced First Lieutenant who although finishing 3rd behind cue card, hardly needed to get into the race and was not hard ridden. The New one takes on better horses than when at cheltenham and so is opposable. as for the other races, you'll need something with a good cruising speed and sound jumping to be on the winners list and there are plenty that fit that profile so whatever you are on happy punting......

Bumper entry received for Lockinge Point-to-Point
The Charles Stanley Old Berks Point-to-Point and Country day
Bank Holiday Monday, 1st April 2013
The Charles Stanley Lockinge Point-to-Point has received a bumper entry ahead of its popular Easter Monday fixture with 191 entries across six races.
With current adverse weather conditions wreaking havoc with horseracing and equestrian events around the country, the going at the Lockinge venue currently is good to soft, resulting in the strong entry.
Amongst the entries are Grade 1 hurdle victor Lough Derg and My Way De Solzen former winner of the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival. The mount of Camilla Henderson; Scots Dragoon, trained by Marcus Foley, also holds an entry. Camilla's father, trainer Nicky Henderson, whose yard is based just outside Lambourn, Berkshire, took his tally of Cheltenham Festival winners to fifty earlier this month, making him the winning most trainer at the Gloucestershire spectacle.
The Easter Bank Holiday fixture historically attracts a crowd of over 10,000 and this year visitors will be treated to six action packed races as well as plenty of entertainment off the track. Additionally the event is celebrating a historic landmark as 2013 heralds its 60th anniversary of the fixture being held at the Lockinge venue, which is neat Wantage, Oxfordshire.
Richard Manners, Old Berks Hunt Point to Point Chairman comments: "Despite the extreme weather, the Point-to-Point course is currently good to soft and bar any extreme conditions between now and Easter Monday we are confident that the going will remain unchanged for the fixture. We are delighted with this large entry and looking forward to a really competitive days horseracing".
Gates open from 9.30am and entertainment starts at 11am and includes a hound parade, two pony races, vintage car display and Easter Egg hunt. A variety of trade-stands including a Farmers Market with local suppliers will also feature. First Race: 1.30pm.
Cars £25. Priority parking £35 (booked in advance on longcot@leigh-pemberton.co.uk). Single occupancy £10. Pedestrians £5. Pay on the gate. Dogs on leads welcome.
