Using references from all 4 series, I can pretty much make a timeline of how far each series is from the other, from Duel Monsters all the way to ZEXAL.

Ushio from Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds appeared in Duel Monsters as a hall monitor. At this time, he was around the age of 15-16.

In Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Ushios name appeared on a list of Truemans victims, as a resident of Domino City, which means by this time he was most likely an adult in his early 20s. His name disappeared from the list, i.e he was sent to the world of darkness like everyone else. This means that GX is approximately 5-10 years after Duel Monsters.

In Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds, Ushio has his biggest and most significant role in Yu-Gi-Oh as a member of Sector Security. By this time, he is a middle aged man, most likely in his late 30s or early 40s. This indicates that Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds is approximately 15 years after Yu-Gi-Oh GX and 20-25 years after Duel Monsters.

In ZEXAL and the follow up series, ZEXAL II, Very few references to any of the previous series are observed.

However, ZEXAL is shown to occur on the same timeline as 5Ds because both "Iron Chain Dragon" and "Dark Tuner nightmare hand" are shown in the preview to episode 1 of ZEXAL, indicating that Synhro Monsters are still at least sporadically used. Reginald Shark Kastle also drives a machine very similar to a duel runner, and, only in the ZEXAL Manga, Turbo dueling is also shown.

Thus it is safe to say that Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL occurs in the far future, most likely 50-10 years after 5Ds.

The story goes likes this...Our buyer closed on one of our listings at 10 a.m. The seller from that listing bought another one of our listings which closed at noon.
