Hello everyone, hoping you all have had a good Easter weekend. The residents in Bonnyton have had another busy week. We have had some great visits from family and friends. But also a few residents going for their coffees out and about in Ellon. On Tuesday we attended a monthly Alzheimer meeting in the Ellon Station-Hotel. We had coffee with local folk mostly just diagnosed with Alzheimer's and their carers. Next month we will be joining them again, as a some sing-song has been planned too for the next meeting. We had Bonnyton friends visiting for more music which was greatly appreciated, and then there were the always much anticipated Domino trials, this week with some surprise winners, possibly because there were dominoes hidden under the table cloth (may I add that is a joke ofcourse!), but above all we had a great laugh! On Thursday we had a visit planned to the Coffee & Craft meeting of Ellon Parish Church, and we met some lovely old friends there, including a table full with Auchtercrag residents! Some great advice on knitting was received too. We had great trouble getting back to the car, as we chatted to so many Ellon folks and with the beautiful weather we had to admire our lovely Ellon town centre. Especially the civic pride flower tubs, in full bloom now in front of the church. Once back in our Home I was happy to point out to a visiting family with children we have all kinds of board games and colouring in material in our entertainment cupboard available to you. Please ask our staff for asisstance should you like to play a game with your relative. We also had a Wii installed recently and although it is not connected at this moment in time we hope to get it back soon, so please ask for it if you wanted to play with it (your children can teach us how it works most likely!) Best wishes and speak to you soon!

Monday we began our day with our daily exercise program and afterwards we met in the activity room for some bingo playing! We had a delicious lunch and then we enjoyed an hour of music and song. We had our card-making class where we are working on some cards with a book-marker inside for a small gift. They are turning out to be really pretty and everyone is always so proud of their individual product.
Tuesday we had our exercise class and then we went into the activity room where we played yahtzee. We had our "country store" where we "spend" our "magic bucks" that we have saved all month from doing various activities.
Wednesday after our exercise class we decided we take a spontaneous road trip to Garvin Woodland Gardens, and have a lunch out somewhere. Those who went had a blast and enjoyed the beautiful flowers and all the waterfalls and different sights they had for us to see. We ended up at Wendys for lunch because it was past our lunch time and we were hungry! Our month of March birthdays were celebrated during the lunch hour on this day too, complete with cake for desert and presents too! We had our weekly Bible study group in the activity area to fill the afternoon hours.
Thursday we had our morning exercise and then we loaded up and headed to the thrift shop for the first time since they re-opened, and as always we were greeted by smiling and helpful ladies, and they had lots of new spring items out at bargain prices. Nobody left empty-handed as usual! We had our watercolor class and a domino game or two to help us have some fun in the afternoon.
Friday we had our daily exercise program and then due to weather, we decided we take our Easter egg hunt over to the pre-school. We enjoyed watching the little ones play for a while, looked at some of their art-work, and then we hid the eggs for them to find. They were so cute! We enjoyed them singing to us also, and all the big smiles on their faces brought such joy to our hearts. It was truly a blessing to be able to share our morning with them and hope to go back soon. We loaded up in the car and went to the local dollar stores to get some things we needed for the week-end, and stopped by Sun Screen video to pick out a movie for the week-end. We returned home just in time to be greeted by our friends the yarn-workers.
Saturday we had our exercise program and then we had a little pampering with manicures and nail polishing. We had a presentation on falls and fall prevention which included many good safety tips for us all. We enjoyed a good family movie called Courage starring Jason Priestly along with some drinks and popcorn.
Sunday we had our weekly Sunday school class in the morning and then our devotional after lunch and they both always leave us feeling as if we can face the week ahead of us with a smile!
We want to thank all our volunteers for your time and many talents, and remind you if you would like to become avolunteer, please feel free to contact myself or Sherrie Morris at 870-867-2159.
