What would you do with $1,000,000.00? i am not sure if you saw the Gettysburg Times last week it showed a group of people who one a million dollars playing a lottery ticket through work. What struck me was the woman who purchased the winning lottery ticket for her and her co-workers also purchased some tickets for herself. When the winning number showed up on her ticket from work she had a decision to make...i alone could walk away with $850,00.00 or do the right thing and split it with my coworkers and walk away with only $40,000.00. I am happy to say that she made the honest decision.
I wonder would you or i have done the same? Titus 2:7 says in all things show yourself to be in a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence and incorruptibility.
integrity is what we do when nobody is looking. This certainly applies to the lotery ticket but it also applies to many areas of sin or potential sin in our lives. What do we do when nobody is looking? What is the attitude of the heart that no one else can see? What kind of thoughts do we have that nobody can read? When we prayerfully consider this and the fact the God knows what we think, feel and do it should help us to learn how to walk in integrity. Think on whatever is pure, whatever is good and whatever noble...

Learn Our History Today: On April 9, 1865, during the Civil War, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his 28,000 man army to Union General Ulysses Grant, in effect ending the war. Just days earlier, Lee had been forced to retreat from his entrenchments around Petersburg, Virginia and in turn abandon the Confederate Capital of Richmond. His army was on the brink of collapse. The Civil War’s terrible battles had taken a horrendous toll on Lee’s once 100,000 man army. His stores of food and supplies were running critically low. And, on top of that, Grant’s army gained more and more strength by the day.

Lee retreated south in the desperate hopes of joining up with Joseph E. Johnston’s army in North Carolina. However, Grant quickly swung down and cut off this option, at the same time sending cavalry to harass the dejected rebels. By April 8, the cavalry of Union General Philip Sheridan had ridden ahead of Lee’s army and effectively cut it off. Lee was now surrounded with little hope of escape. With great reluctance, the Confederate General sent a message to Grant stating that he was willing to surrender. On April 9, the two Generals met in the parlor of a house in Appomattox, Virginia.

Lee entered the room dressed head to toe in his finest military dress uniform, with a ceremonial sword at his side. Grant entered wearing a mud stained privates uniform with the insignia of a Lieutenant General haphazardly sewn on. He carried no sword. The two great Generals first reminisced about the Mexican-American War in which they had both served with distinction, before turning to the matters at hand. Grant offered all of the Confederates full pardons, and continued to say that all private property, such as horses, could be kept by the soldiers. In addition, Lee’s starving men would be given Union rations to eat. Without hesitation, General Robert E. Lee accepted, surrendering the Army of Northern Virginia to the Union Army of the Potomac, the men they had fought for four years on the famous battlefields of Gettysburg, Antietam and Bull Run. As the General Grant left the house he called over his subordinates and told them, "The war is over. The Rebels are our countrymen again."
