I would like to post something about the late Mrs Thatcher which nobody is likely to mention or even notice, but to me could well be her greatest achievement. Arguments are flaring up about this and that and the media as usual is not helping much...... but I remember this: In the 70s and 80s, as the scientific return from unmanned Mars missions was being evaluated, it was discovered that certain chemical processes present on that planet were responsible for the lack of an ozone layer in the atmosphere and therefore the Martian surface was continually being sterilised. As the work progressed, it became apparent that the cooling chemicals - CFCs - that we use in aerosols and fridges were the same ones that had destroyed or prevented the protective ozone from forming on Mars. There was great alarm in the scientific community as a few scientists realised that the consequences of CFC use on earth could be damaging our own ozone layer, with potentially fatal effect. It was independently verified soon after that that this damage had indeed occurred and that our atmosphere now had a very large ozone depletion region, causing dramatic rises in skin cancer, cataracts, mutations, blindness etc - all of which is now routinely seen across the northern latitudes. Business being what it is, and the generally opinion of scientists being what it is, ("stop sunbathing and put a shirt on" etc) it was unlikely that the manufacture of CFCs would be halted on the word of a few obscure geeks. But Mrs Thatcher was an educated woman and a qualified chemist and understood the scientific arguement completely. She played a vital role in pushing successfully for the ban on CFC manufacture and there are signs that the ozone hole may be starting to repair itself. I admire her for that - in all the rush to worship at the feet of the famous and the need to align ourselves with a viewpoint or it opposite, it is easy to forget that our environment and its preservation is the most critical issue facing our civilisation today. But the almost unsung work done by planetary scientists, the need for understanding this knowledge and a politican with a deep understand of the need to forget profit for once, may well have saved us from a truly terrible scenario.

Had a busy day did a dry vent cleaning then had a water damage after that did a carpet cleaning. Got home to find my dog a lil muddy had to give him a bath so dad wouldnt get mad that he was digging again ha also changed the cat litter box it was putrid smelling and also brushed both dogs cause summers near and they are shedding quite a bit
