A cyclist was seriously injured after being run over in front of the shop this evening. The cyclist was riding against traffic and will likely be cited as the at fault party. If he were walking, the motorist would be at fault. In certain situations, being on a bicycle can remove your legal right to life. Laws like this must change. Meanwhile, we keep his wellness in our thoughts. Everyone - BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Bolstered by unmatched depth in the open division Stony Brook University was the IHSA Zone 2, Region 4 high point team for the 2012-13 season. The Seawolves won three of the regions' eight shows while scoring over 30 points in six (and perhaps as importantly, never scoring below 21 points). The final margin over runner-up St. Joseph's College of Patchogue, New York was 235-206 with New York University in third with 201. Stony Brook open rider Olivia Cary narrowly edged out teammate Tara Donohue for high point open rider honors. Cary scored 34 points in both open flat and fences to finish ahead of Donohue 68-66. Former Stony Brook rider Rachel Cresswell led both the alumni flat and alumni fences categories, this despite not competing in the regular season finale. Two other alumni, former C.W. Post riders Laura Powell and Chelsea Soldner also showed consistantly, with Soldner the only alumni within the region to compete at all eight shows.
Final Zone 2, Region 4 Open Rider Standings:
Olivia Cary, Stony Brook University 68
Tara Donohue, Stony Brook University 66
Danielle Jarvis, Molloy College 41

Hi Everyone - something a little negative arrived in the inbox today, from our friends at Wellington City Council.
"I have just had a call from an irate walker regarding behaviour of mountain bikers of Mt Vic. In this case it was an individual biker and an individual accident. The biker verbally abused the walker for not getting out of the way and then stopped and put his bike across the walk way to continue his abuse. Not surprisingly she quite upset. Although only an individual in this case this incident reflects badly on mountaineers in general.
This occurred on the Zig Zag track which while it was built by bikers it is a shared public trail for both walkers and riders (the public own it). The code of conduct still applies, bikes do not have priority and must give way to walkers!"
This sounds like a really nasty incident. There is never any good reason to abuse someone. I seriously doubt this person follows our Facebook page but if you are aware of who this person is, they are probably recounting the story to their friends, please remind them that behaviour like this puts our riding access at risk.
Riders do not have priority on Wellington dual use trails with the exception of Makara Peak. It is that model of "dual use but walkers first" is what gives us such wide access across the city. Let's make sure we respect it!
