I love having the grandbaby in the kitchen with me. This morning she wanted eggs, bacon and biscuits. She helped me scramble the eggs up, she can work a mean whisk! Then she helped me mix up biscuits! She had biscuit dough up to the elbows but we had fun and she loved it! Quite a mess to clean up but well worth the memories we built! I love that child so much I actually ache sometimes!

An adage in my native dialect says " agadi nwanyi Daa ada ugboro abuo, oguo ihe obu n'ukpa onu - when an old woman fall twice she is bound to recount the content of her basket.This is the wisdom of my forefathers, an existential piece that has endured for ages.

But what of one that had fallen severally, not twice,not thrice but has failed to heed to the aforementioned adage Would it still be disrespectful to ask her if she has lost her sanity.? I don't think it is, I believe even the aged should be "spanked" if need be. don't frown at me that is my belief I said.

Before the arrival of the colonial masters we Africans were at peace with ourselves sharing common existential problems with other races, I do not mean to say our land was full of milk and horny but we were at peace because we had an egalitarian society. Unfortunately at the arrival of the merchants things fell apart(apology to Achebe), the scramble and partitioning of our lands desecrated our very existence as a chosen race.Europe gambled with our lives and forced us into incompatible political matrimonies that have endured amidst turbulence.

We were brought together in this nation with little or no consideration to our cultural and religious unkindredness.Don't get me wrong am not calling for division after all Ojukwu's aburi accord is yet to be exhumed for an autopsy!

Spring has sprung! Water is crashing down through the irrigatrion canals, to the delight of gardeners, but to the indignation of the little critters along the canal banks who haven't officially awakened yet. While stopped at a traffic light the other day I saw a greatly annoyed rock chuck emerge from his waterfront hole, shake his wet fur, scramble a foot up the bank to safety, and start grooming his fur as he took a morose glance at his flooding nest. Hopefully the warm weather and the prospect of romance will soothe his ruffled feelings...and fur!
