Jagen is an archetype for an early promoted unit that joins your army in the early parts of the game. Pure Jagens are notoriously known as experience killers, as they won't let your other units grow. They have relatively good base stats, but horrible growths, making them horrible to use in the long run.

Most pure Jagens are old, or sickly. The exception to the rule is Briggid of FE4 and FE5, aka Eyvel. She is different from the other Jagens for many reasons: One: She is a female; Two: She is a swordsmaster in FE5, while she is a sniper in FE4, whereas the Jagen archetype is generally filled with Paladins. Three: The reason of her horrible growths in FE5 is because she is more skilled with a bow than a sword. Lastly, the fourth reason is that she is only playable for 7 chapters in FE5, before she is kidnapped.
