"I came to office with one deliberate intent: to change Britain from a dependent to a self-reliant society — from a give-it-to-me, to a do-it-yourself nation. A get-up-and-go, instead of a sit-back-and-wait-for-it Britain." --Margaret Thatcher, Feb. 8, 1984

(We need that same spirit and initiative here, now.)

We are great people.
The problem for us is not who did what? When? How? And why?
We know what happened in our society. That is why we should all of us stand up and say no, never and forever. From the bad memories, and destruction, we have become stronger more that anyone could imagine. We proved to the world that we can face any situation and conquer the evil. Now it is time to rebuild our country our Nation our society in harmony, justice and reconciliation. With equal opportunity from all.
Let us show the whole world that we are great people.

This is a sad day, as we bid farewell to one of the great prime ministers and world leaders of the 20th century, and it is entirely fitting that Lady Thatcher will receive a Ceremonial funeral with military honours in St Paul's Cathedral.

From the tributes flooding from around the world, we know that that Lady Thatcher as Prime Minister left a positive and permanent imprint on this country.

Britain in the 1970s was often referred to as "ungovernable", with many politicians seemingly convinced that national decline was inevitable.

But it wasn’t for Mrs Thatcher (as she then was) and the way she dragged the country out of its malaise showed that there was, finally, vision, drive and leadership in public life once again.

Nigerians may demand revolution –Amaechi

Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has expressed the fear that the seeming government’s failure to provide jobs for the people may result in the unexpected.

Amaechi said: “If we do not provide means of livelihood for the people, they will provide means of livelihood for themselves illegally”.

The Rivers State governor spoke at Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort at the weekend during a programme tagged: “The Nigeria Symposium for Youth and Emerging Leaders,” organised by The Future Project.

He said: “The country produces much wealth, but it is in the hands of a few. If we do not do things right, Nigerians will demand revolution”.

The governor, who advocated good governance as recipe to the problems of the nation, added: “The problem is about the system. If we reform a bit, things will be okay”.

Amaechi, who had been having running battle with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership, said that he was being haunted as Governors’ Forum Chairman because of his stance on excess crude account and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The governor explained that he took the radical position on behalf of NGF that each state should be allowed access to those funds rather than for the Federal Government to take possession on their behalf.

The governor had vehemently opposed the Federal Government over the deduction from the excess crude account and championed a legal battle over the Sovereign Wealth Fund where he advocated access of each state to the funds directly.

Speaking earlier, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi asked the youth to be tolerant and courageous to always fight for good governance.

He also told them to prepare to pay any price to achieve socio-economic emancipation of the people.

The governor advised youth not to be disenchanted by the misdemeanour of the few charlatans, who found their ways into positions of leadership, saying they should always embrace leaders with clarity of vision and who display confidence and competence in governance.
