On Sunday 5 May, York City will host 2013 The FA Women’s Premier League Cup Final.



The Finalists will be determined by the winners of semi-final matches between Sunderland and Leeds United and Aston Villa and Portsmouth.

York City Chairman, Jason McGill said of the announcement: "York City Football Club is delighted to be hosting this prestigious game in Women's Football. As a Club, we are committed to the Community and we are pleased to support the growth of Women's Football in England.



“Women's Football has a rich history dating back to the first women's match in 1895. The game has now come a long way, with many successful club sides competing at a high standard as well as a strong international side who impressed at the London Olympics. It's exciting times for Women's Football and we are pleased to be part of it by hosting this final."



“We are delighted that York City have agreed to hold this season’s League Cup Final,” said Thura KT Win, Chairman of The FA Women’s Premier League.

“The FA has not hosted a game in York for some time and it is wonderful to be going back there again. We know they will prove excellent hosts as they have done in the past.”

Sunderland Ladies lifted last season’s title, completing a domestic league and cup double after beating Leeds United 2-1 at Northampton Town.

The Michigan Region will be having our second “Training Day” of the spring season this Saturday, April 13th at Crosswind Kennels. If you are interested in coming, we do ask that you RSVP to Chris Ritter at 734 740 7300 in order to make sure we have enough birds available. Just to review, the training day is designed for newer dogs and/or handlers to get accustomed to the game or to allow more experienced handlers/dogs to work on specific training issues in a trial like setting. Birds will be available for approx. $6 each and a brace usually includes three birds per handler. We are also accepting donations for gas, etc. for the equipment used. Experienced NSTRA judges will be working as “judges” to assist with training if desired and to answer questions and provide pointers. We had a great turnout at the first training day and look forward to seeing you there. Feel free to come on out and check out what NSTRA is all about even if you don’t want to bring your dog. This will be a fun, very informal way to see what our game is really about.

GROWING UP
Roy is 14 years old. His parents are very strict. They want Roy to be a good student and become an honest man in the future.
Roy has a busy routine. He goes to school in the morning, he has to do his homework, and he has to study for two hours every day.
After that, he has to clean up his room, and he has to do the dishes after dinner.

Roy doesn’t have much time to play video game or surf the net. He just uses the computer to study. He never has time to chat on MSN with his friends or play games.
On weekends, Roy has to walk the dog, wash his father’s car and mow the lawn.

Roy can rest on his vacation, when he travels to the countryside. His father says he has to spend some time with his grandparents.
The farm is far and he has to go by bus. The town is small and life there is very boring.

The alarm clock rings at 5:30. Roy has to hurry up to catch the bus to school. He’s very tired. He can’t be late for school.
Roy doesn’t have many friends and the girls don’t usually pay attention to him.
He’s a very good student and sometimes he helps his classmates. “Hurry up, Roy”, he thinks, “you’ll be late for school”.
Oh, no! There goes the bus… Now, Roy is late.

Roy walks to school and he sees “Bruiser”. Leslie is in his class, but his nickname is “Bruiser’. Nobody calls him Leslie. If you call him Leslie, you can get a bruise: a black eye! “Bruiser” is a cool guy. Everybody wants to be his friend, and all the girls want to be his girlfriend. “Bruiser” is late for school, too. He says: “Hi, Roy! What’s up?”
Roy is surprised! “Bruiser” never talks to him.
“Bruiser” goes: “What are you doing here, man? I need company, let’s cut classes today! Come on, move on!”

Roy is scared. He has never cut classes before. What about his parents? But… this is his chance to make friends, to change his boring life, do something different, exciting! Roy thinks for a while and says: “All right, no classes today!” Roy is nervous and worried. “What if I meet my parents or if a neighbor sees me”, he thinks.
Roy is surprised to see other students in the park. They are sitting under a tree.
“Hey “Bruiser”, who’s the guy?” They ask.
“A friend of mine”, “Bruiser” says.
Roy feels happy and free. He’s enjoying his day.

“Hey, Roy! Do you have cigarettes?”
“Cigarettes?” Roy is puzzled.
“Yeah, man, cigarettes, that stuff you smoke.”
‘N…no… I don’t!” Roy says.
“Oh… so, our new friend has never smoked?”
“Oh, yes, I have!” Roy lies. “I smoke so much that my cigarettes have already finished. And I didn’t have time to buy another box this morning.”
Somebody lights a cigarette and Roy smokes. He wants to look cool. He wants to belong to the crowd.

Roy puffs another cigarette. He feels sick. He coughs. The boys laugh at him. He puffs again and throws up!
Now he has friends and he always goes to the park. He uses the money his Grandma gives him to buy cigarettes. His parents are very upset. Roy doesn’t want to study or help his family anymore. He just wants to go to the park and be with his new friends.

“Well, guys, I have something very special, today!”, says “Bruiser”. He has a strange cigarette in his hands. He lights the cigarette. The smell is strong. Roy is afraid. He knows what that is… He doesn’t want to use drugs to be cool, he just wants to make friends.
‘It’s your turn to try, Roy”, says Brandon.
“I’m … I’m not feeling well, I want to go away.” Everybody laughs at Roy.
