Spoken Cree language is like a song to me. It is a song that can only be truly appreciated when it is heard. And it is also sounds slightly different in different places, reflecting the land it comes from and yet each rendition is equally beautiful. Rather than focusing too much on written Cree knowing books make no sounds, I choose to focus most of my time on spoken Cree to keep it alive and vital. How can we honour our fluent speakers, especially our Elders as our true language masters? How can we keep our languages alive and spoken so Cree voices, young and old keep singing our songs?

So in the fall of 2014 Scotland will hold a vote to either become an independent nation or remain apart of the UK. Being Scottish I do support a free and independent Scotland, but do realize it would be difficult in the few years to come to establish themselves. But I believe that is a price for freedom.
