Got spring fever? Play outdoors with the kids! The staff at Aquila Elementary is looking for volunteers to play games with the kids during recess. Doesn’t a quick game of kickball, football or red light green light sound fun? Time commitment is at least one hour Monday-Friday – pick as many days as you want.

South Side Parents...PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR BOYS MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PROGRAM... PLS READ AND SPREAD THE WORD!

Dear Parents,
As you may have heard our soccer numbers have significantly dropped and the outlook down the road is not very good. South Side has proposed a merger with Burgettstown to try and keep the program alive on both the High School and the Middle School Level. Burgettstown would be coming to our school for all practices & games. After an initial letter went out, the feedback has been 50/50. I really don't think that the parents understand that if this does NOT go through, there will be no soccer program at all for the boys next year or any year to follow in Middle School or High School. That means all of these kids playing in the youth league will have not be playing for the school in the future. No one wants to see this happen. I understand that the parents don't want to see their child sitting while a Burgettstown child is playing. But maybe that will make all kids step up their game and motivate them . It will also teach them to join forces and work together for one common goal, to play soccer! At this point there are no other choices.
If you are in favor of this merger and want to keep the program alive, please contact Ron Ledbetter, our Athletic Director, asap at rel@sssd.k12.pa.us
He needs to know as soon as possible so he can take some more favorable numbers to the school board. We have a lot of 6th graders that hope to play in the fall that can help push this through. Please let your voice be heard now, because once the decision is made, it will not be overturned. Please spread the word!
