I just had a message from a friend and it sparked a thought, no pun intended. :)

This July will be the 150th of the CSA moving through Williamsport, Md. If memory serves me right, the US Cavalry burned some of Lee's pontoon boats to prevent his escape back across the river.

I've got a couple pontoon boats with rotted bottoms I need off my property. Anyone interested in taking them to Williamsport and burning them? :) You move 'em, you take care of making it happen.

Hey! Does anyone remember how muggy it gets up on the Applachine Trail in June or July? I am thinking of doing some hiking (Land nav (orienteering) and real camping (none of this camper BS)) on a long weekend. Anyone wants in, we can coordinate it. Might push it to fall, if its too nasty or if I can go to Gettysburg for part of the 250th anniversary of the Battle.

Prayers go out to the 8th graders at NOMS, the teachers, and bus drivers, as they leave this morning to go to Gettysburg,PA, and then on to Washington DC tomorrow. We love you Kelsey! Have a great time, and making many fun memories! The week will fly by to them, but will seem long to us parents here at home. Safe travels!!!!!!

Something has been floating in my head for the past few days. This country is broken. The USA spends so much time, money, and effort to save the citizens of other countries while we, Americans, suffer. Our vets and thier families are not getting the help they need and deserve. Schools are closing. Businesses are closing. People are going hungry. The sick are not getting the medical treatments or medicines they need.
But I recall great and well known words spoken many years ago. "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Yes, yes, you may say what more can they want?!? I'm not talking about the government when I say country, I mean your fellow man. Instead of tsk'ing and fussing about injustices, what if we all asked ourselves what we can do for our country. What can I do today to help my fellow man? I think it is time to remember how to take care of each other so that we may rise out of this mess together, hand in hand.
I know people that don't want charity. I have trouble accepting help when it is so very needed. I think most of us do. But there is such a thing as doing kind deeds anonymously. This way no can't be an answer.......

Well, it has been a busy, yet wonderfully relaxing 12 days. Started with the arrival of my daughter and her family to Ohio for Easter weekend. I miss them so much, it was great seeing them. On to Washington DC with them, we went. Washington is Deb and I second favorite place to visit. I had but a few moments to see a true friend, but a few moments is better than nothing. After DC , Jeannette and her family went on to NYCm while Deb and I went to Philly for a few hours and one delicious cheese steak. Fairfield NJ was our next stop to visit friends that Deb has known for awhile and I now feel like I have known forever. We saw the Thomas Edison museum and home also. Gettysburg PA was outlast stop, our favorite stop. We love the town, the history and now even the ghosts. So now we begin to pack and begin the last phase, westward to Ohio..
