Today is World Autism Awareness Day. There is such a need for us to understand and appreciate the complexities and mysteries of the outward challenges of those who suffer from autism, as well as their inner goodness, intelligence and unique gifts. I think of so many kids challenged by this, including my beautiful nephew, Karcher, and the patient, sacrificial families doing all they can to nurture and teach and protect their loved ones. My nephew has greater life tests and trials than most kids will ever have to deal with, but he’s also incredibly gifted intellectually, and we love him so very much. Karcher is one of the brightest students in his high school senior class; he'll be gradated next month, and he proudly works alongside his dad at the service station they own and operate in Anchorage. Autism truly is a mystery. May God bless all of these children and families, and may God give our nation a compassionate heart to better understand the purity and perspective our special needs community has to offer.

I’m staying out here at a hotel in Hawthorne CA. After my usual morning PT (physical training – run, pushups, crunches), I came down for the buffet breakfast and got hit with the Liberal Stare. The new adventure began on March 11, 2013. We left Palm Desert on our way to Campbellsville Kentucky. Our first stop was Tuscan, AZ for a little work on the Motorhome. All went well and we were on the road again on March 13. We made Gordon, TX by Thursday night and at 1:30 Friday morning we needed to stop for a little work on Rick. Put some new plumbing in the arteries in Fort Worth, TX and then rest for a few days. I had a little damage to the pump but am feeling really good. On Friday March 22 my good friend Tim Logan drove us to Campbellsville, KY. We will stay here for about 6 weeks and then hope to continue our adventure to the NE. I will update as we progress. We came to KY to watch our grandson play baseball for Campbellsville University. To date they are 22 and 6 and tied for first place. Tanner Nielsen Ranks Number 16 in Division I in Total Stolen Bases (17) Team is ranked 21 in the nation.
