My art posts are going to be a little slowed down guys:( During this week, and definitely starting on Friday, I will be needed to help set up the barn at the track. This spring and summer, I will be working full time at the racetrack again. Some days I'll be able to post in the afternoons because I will be done around late morning but the other days I could be at the race barn all day. In this period of time I will try my best to take on a couple commissions and work on others. I am going to work on some today and post updates. I only ask for patience. To explain the display earlier, many of us having lived through the Thatcher years; growing up I knew nothing different, it politicized a generation; we saw the destruction of the unions, the crushing of the working man and all public services privatized, with no benefit to ordinary people.

Manufacturing was destroyed and we were left with service industries; a country of consultants. In a bid to create conservative voters she sold off much of our welfare housing without any rebuilding programs, those purchasers ended up being shit on from the greatest height.

The most recent unrest in the UK was arguably started with Thatcher policies, those calling her the most successful PM ever have a very different idea to what success is than I do.

Adrian tells it better than I can:

Right-wingers drive people into unemployment and poverty, as a result of failed economic policies, austerity and public spending cuts. These people then become miserable, hopeless and disillusioned, which leads to increased tensions as social unrest, political instability, economic turmoil, ethnic conflicts and class struggle spreads as a result of the desperation these people face.

Then, because of all of this, the Tories use the loosely-organized expressions of discontent(riots, protests, sabotage etc.) to justify increased surveillance, curbing of civil rights, abuse by security forces, the establishment of a Police State and increased autocracy, all in the name of "law and order".

They then put the blame for the riots and protests on the poor themselves and say there are "no excuses", after which they proceed with jailing and imprisoning these disillusioned and miserable people, and decide to punish the rest through revoked benefits and monetary extortion, which leads to criminality and desperation, which they use to justify increased militarization of the police force.

Divide and conquer-tactics are then pursued in order to maintain power and authority over society, as they play off black against white, man against woman, immigrant against native, criminal against law-abiding citizen, blue-collar against white-collar, deserving against undeserving poor, employed against unemployed, young against old and so on, partly in order to drive down wages, bust unions and create cheap labour, and partly to misdirect anger away from their own failed, neoliberal policies so as to maintain their hold over the State.

TL;DR: It's a vicious circle, to drive people into poverty and unemployment, which leads to increased unrest and instability, with riots and protests in its wake, which is then used in a populist way to justify harsh punishments and the curbing of civil rights.
