My old laptop running Windows XP is finally so slow to start I worry it won't make it every time. It seems I have to let it go. And, having been content for nearly 6 years in my fulfilling and increasingly codependent relationship with this machine, I didn't notice that the trusty evil empire that created it, Microsoft/Intel, is crumbling to dust. Tablets! Mobiles! Apps! blares the noxious bagpipe band of Change. You should have seen the look on my face when it was explained to me that personal computers and laptops are somehow, impossibly, being phased out. Windows 7 is aging and Windows 8 has failed. Well here it is: I HATE APPS! APPS ARE AWFUL! They are SLOWER, DUMBED DOWN, HARDER-TO-USE versions of all the powerful and immersive SOFTWARE that has been there to help me do what I want to do! I HATE F***ING LITTLE DEVICES! They're always glad to distract you with yet another video or hideously truncated message or story. But try to do some real work, type words at length, compose music, remaster sound files, manage data, work on images, the COGNITIVE and CREATIVE extended powers that personal computers gave everyone who could use one, and the little pieces of S*** are underdeveloped and hard to use. The gadgets are there to facilitate you in consuming an ever more stupefying stew of content ever more quickly and easily.

Only parts I remember involve me going from a parking garage to an attached bar, then sitting there eating cookies while a voiceover representing a newscast talked about how using rollerblades to get through parking garages faster was becoming a thing; a tower where the middle floors were smaller than the upper and lower floors; and a stop at a revamped version of my high school with new/revamped characters.

The parking garage (or a similar one) has been in a dream before; the weird town with the tower is probably from reading about SimCity; and the high school thing is probably because this year is the 10-year reunion for my year. Man, I'm old. On a side note, have you ever seen that many semicolons in a facebook post in your life?
