Last night, 8 programs and over 350 participants from across the globe gathered for the Israel Experience's Holocaust Ceremony in Jaffa, Israel. We heard moving accounts and performances from participants on Lej Leja, Israel Teaching Fellows Israel Experience, Career Israel, OTZMA, Mda Chul Staff, Israel by Design, Rimon - School of Jazz & Contemporary Music. The ceremony ended with the first-ever public Holocaust survivor testimonial from Felix and Velga Bandos, who are the grandparents of current Career Israel participant, Alana Bandos.
Then today, at 10 AM, we stood and watched an entire nation come to a halt. The silence was indescribable. Each car pulled to the side of the road. Each citizen stood with their hands by their side. Each person stopped and listened as the siren blasted throughout the country. We paused, reflected, and commemorated those families that were broken, the lives that were taken, and the destruction that resulted.
We continue to remember - and we never will forget.

Saddened to learn this morning of the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, an inspirational leader who served Britain and the world well. My prayers go out to the British people and Lady Thatcher’s family. May her legacy continue to inspire us all.

"I came to office with one deliberate intent: to change Britain from a dependent to a self-reliant society — from a give-it-to-me, to a do-it-yourself nation. A get-up-and-go, instead of a sit-back-and-wait-for-it Britain." ~ Margaret Thatcher

FOREIGN NEWS: Former British Prime Minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher dies of Stroke at 87
Baroness Thatcher, Britain’s first woman prime minster, has died after suffering a stroke at the age of 87.
Her children Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness had died peacefully following a stroke this morning.
Speaking to Sky News, Baroness Thatcher’s spokesman and friend Lord Bell said: “We’ll never see the like of her again. She was one of the great prime ministers of all time and transformed people’s lives.”
He described the former prime minister, a grocer’s daughter from Grantham, as the greatest leader of the Conservative Party with the exception of Winston Churchill.
He said: “She was just a fantastic person – extraordinary charisma, very focused, loved her country, loved being in government and dedicated her life to making people’s lives better…I think history will remember her very kindly.”
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, paid tribute saying: “It was with great sadness that I learned of Lady Thatcher’s death. We’ve lost a great leader, a great Prime Minister and a great Briton.”
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen was sad to hear the news of the death of Baroness Thatcher. Her Majesty will be sending a private message of sympathy to the family.”
Baroness Thatcher, Britain’s first and only woman prime minister, had become increasingly frail and was suffering ill health in recent years.
She was admitted to hospital shortly before Christmas where she underwent an operation to remove a growth from her bladder but was allowed to return home before new year.
Baroness Thatcher, who was prime minister between 1979 and 1990, has been credited with transforming a nation in one decade, putting Britain back among the leading industrial nations of the world.
