Seriously what a nightmare week or so, today's horses couldn't have ran any worse. But tomorrow is another day, and Aintree is on the agenda! I'll put my selections up for each race there plus one or two elsewhere.
Aintree 2.00 - FLAXEN FLARE (Eachway), 5/1. I believe this race lacks strength indepth and this horse improved a lot for blinkers at Cheltenham last time, and i'm not sure how strong the Irish Saint/Rolling Star form is. 5/1 is a belting eachway price as I can't see this being out of the top 3.
Aintree 2.30 SILVINIACO CONTI (NAP), evens. I am a massive fan of this horse and he may have been close to Bobs Worth if staying on his feet in the Gold Cup. Got nothing like that to beat in this race and will take all the beating if all is right after his fall at Cheltenham.
Aintree 3.05 ZARKANDER (Eachway) 11/2. This is by far the hardest race of the day, if not the season. I shortlisted it down to 5, and any of those could win. But I believe Zarkander is value eachway at 11/2 as he is ultra consistent, wears first time blinkers and more importantly steps up in trip on better ground, which is sure to suit. Would have threatened Oscar Whiskey last year too if not for falling. But like I said, and of The New One, Zarkander, Countrywide Flame, Grandouet or Oscar Whiskey could win this.
Aintree 3.40 NO SELECTION - JUST ENJOY A GLIMPSE OF THE NATIONAL FENCES.
Aintree 4.15 - KID CASSIDY (eachway) 7/1, TANKS FOR THAT (eachway) 20/1. I fancy both of these at the prices. Kid Cassidy finally got his act together last time and him and Alderwood pulled miles clear at Cheltenham and will take all the beating. However, Tanks For That is massive at 20/1, has not had his conditions for ages now but will tomorrow, and has come down to a very tempting mark. I expect both ro run very well.
Aintree 4.50 - CAPTAIN CONAN (NB) 7/4. I was going to NAP this one as I really fancy it. Conditions and the track will suit very well and was not far behind at Cheltenham. Hasn't got a lot to beat today and for me this one will be winning.
Aintree 5.25 - LIENOSUS 9/1 (Eachway). This is a terribly difficult race, but I have gone for a wildcard here who could be very well handicapped with the trip in his favour.
Taunton 3.20 - DOMTALINE 11/2 (Eachway). This is massively overpriced, has conditions in his favour this time and off a very handy mark, should go close.
Wolves 7.55 - CALIFORNIA ENGLISH 9/4. I am very keen on this one and I believe it will go off much shorter. Was well backed last time when just denied by a very progressive filly, and should go in this time.
