Dont Stop Believing (Cheltenham 2010)

Sadly there might be a few more burgers knocking around after this weekends grand National,Far too many horses die in this race every year for our " Entertainment" I think the fences are far too high and not one penny will be staked by me in this cruel race.

If your backing a horse tomorrow in the National here's some pointers to narrow down your choice.
The National is a handicap with the ides being that the better the horse the more weight it must carry. For some that means the weight will probably be too much to carry to victory. On that basis forget....
IMPERIAL COMMANDER, WHAT A FRIEND, WEIRD AL, QUEL ESPIRIT, [36 left]
By the same token some of them are lightly weighted because they lack the quality to beat the others in the field. Drop....
MR MOONSHINE, MUMBLES HEAD, NINTIETH MINUTE, AURORAS ENCORE, TARQUINIUS, MAJOR MALARKEY, ANY CURRENCY, SOLL, VIKING BLONDE [27 left]
9-10 year olds dominate this race while experienced 11-12 years olds traitionally run well..drop the 7 and 8 year olds.....
JOIN TOGETHER, LOST GLORY, SAINT ARE, HARRY THE VIKING [23 left]
The horse has got to have proven ability to win at this distance..drop....
ALWAYS WAINING, TATENEN [21 left]
It's rare for a horse with more than one fall in the last two years to show the jumping quality to stay on its feet here...Drop...
CHICAGO GREY, QUISCOVER FONTAINE, BECAUSEICOULDNTSEE, THE RAINBOW HUNTER, RARE BOB [16 left]
Winning is a habit, if a horse has forgotten how to win they are unlikely to rekindle it here. Drop....
OSCAR TIME, BIG FELLA THANKS [14 left]
A horse is like a well olied machine. they get rusty without regular race activity. those that have been off the course too long usually find this tough...Drop....
SUNHILLYBOY, COLBERT STATION, JONCOL, BALTHAZAR KING [10 left]
All of the last ten National winners had previously won or placed in a previous race over these fences, an Irish or Welsh National, John Smiths Chase at Aintree or the Muir/Walwyn Memorial at Cheltenham....Drop
ROBERTO GOLDBACK, ACROSS THE BAY, FORPADYDEPLASTERER, ON HIS OWN, TREACLE, [5 left]
That leaves five that tick every box that a Grand National winner requires.
BALLABRIGGS, CAPPA BLEU, SEABASS, SWING BILL, TEAFORTHREE

The Grand National is whats on my mind Facebook.........
Not just picking from my shortist of Balthazar King, Cappa Blue, Chicago Grey and Tea for Three but also.........
........ getting peeved by wooly liberals who consistently wish to spoil the nations fun - not much fun left for some at the moment and a few human issues to sort before we get to draft the Health and Safety at Work Act for Animals.
Lets get some proper stats first so we can get to a balanced assessment on safety - eg how many horses are injured when they are exercised privately cross country? What is the accident per runner rate when compared to other races? Where were they when Cheltenham was on? What about the Velka in Czech Republic?
24 hr Media leverage - pick on the biggest event to get your point heard.
Consider the fact that the Grand National Meeting centres around the race itself , brings income into the area and is the shop window for the racing product. No National race equals no National meeting and knock on effect on attendances at other local meetings in terms of reduced attendances. Reduced demand for the racing product equals less tracks, less owners, less trainers.Racing employs many people who contribute to our dwindling rural community. It is also a british rural traditional pastime as opposed to Latte drinking in pavement cafe's.
The horses simply would not exist if it were not for racing - they will not go off into some wonderful sunny meadow retirement if we ban jump racing - I'd avoid the Lasagne if I were you.
Prioritise your animal welfare targets - perhaps pur more effort into dangerous dog ( and children ) owners, those who deliberately mistreat their animals, dog fighters, badger baiters, whaling, seal clubbers and sheep shaggers!

AINTREE DAY 3:
1.45 - Utopie Des Bordes ew, 11/2. Ran well for a long way behind At Fishers Cross at Aintree and he step down in trip should suit.
2.15 - Overturn win, 9/4. I believe a sharp 2 miles on good ground will suit and he is a class jumper, should jump them into submission.
2.50 - Smad Place ew, 6/1. Ran well at Cheltenham and trainer has him spot on. African Gold ew, 10/1. Twiston Davies nearly beat the older horses with the new one and has a great chance at a great price here.
3.25 - Opening Batsman ew, 7/1. Very progressive and good ground suits well, should give it his best shot.
THE GRAND NATIONAL!
On His Own ew, 10/1. Big fan of this, would have gone close last year if not for an unlucky fall. Has been set up for the race and should run well.
Cappa Bleu ew, 12/1. Ran well in the race last couple of years, and is fancied by many.
Teaforthree ew, 16/1. Perfect national contender, jumps well, likes good ground, and got a very underated jockey on. Can go close.
5.10 - Ranjaan ew, 10/1. Finally has good ground and been dropped to a good handicap mark.
5.45 - Dakar Run ew, 14/1. Richard Fahey really rates this horse, and can go well at a decent price.
Lingfield 2.25 - Universal, 4/1. This was staying on well last week at Kempton and is a classy horse, can go in at Lingfield tomorrow.
Just one more word..
Wolves 9.20 - Albaqaa, 4/1. If there is money for this horse tomorrow then it is a shoe in, been racing over ridiculous trips lately and is chucked in on old form over a trip that suits.
