Boko Haram is fighting for a cause that is unjustified: They want GEJ to convert to Islam and also let the rest of us live Islamicly. In 2013 Northern leaders are calling for amnesty for a group that does not have a face nor a national agenda for the development of Nigeria. They have not asked for schools, hospital, roads, employment etc.... Their only request is GEJ converts to Islam and let Islam be the order of the day in Nigeria.

A person known to many of my friends unfriended and blocked me tonight, apparently because I dared to disagree with him somewhat about what constitutes a "natural born citizen" and eligibility for US Presidency. And he did it right in the middle of an exchange where I was trying to be nice and and solicit his opinion on the matter regarding a person not originally mentioned.

When I first heard a recommendation from a friend for Awas beach cottage, I wasn’t pretty sure about exploring it. Had never heard about Awas. Hence I googled it and to my disappointment, there were 0 reviews online. Nevertheless, we decided to go ahead and 6 of us headed to the Gateway of India to catch a ferry to Mandva.

Awas is 7kms away from Mandva. My first impression of the Awas beach cottage was okay until I realized that the proximity to the Awas beach was, like, wow! One just needed to walk a few steps to explore a beautiful, serene and virgin beach right in front of his/her eyes. The beach is of course littered at some places; but not crowded like the regular ones.

The beach cottage is okay – the rooms are regular ones, clean and nice; but just that. The cottage surroundings are also okay – they have a big swing, shower facilities, carom board, chess board, and badminton racquets to keep their guests engaged. We took along our flying disc, football and cycle which resulted in us being busier than ever in all these activities.

The food at Awas beach tasted nice and very homely. It was also unlimited but we had to wait for salad and papad. Not that I am cribbing about these small issues; but during lunch too, the papads got over and a few guests had to make do with it (or without, rather). Also during lunch, only 2-3 of us were vegetarians (there were around 20 people during lunch in the entire cottage). When I saw the quantity of veggies served on the table, I was disappointed and kept worrying and ensuring that I ate little so that other vegetarians got their share too. Even during breakfast, the cottage owner thought twice before serving upma which was disgusting!

My non vegetarian friends had a gala time, though, and it was a paisa vasool moment for them when they tasted and relished the non vegetarian food at Awas beach cottage!

We payed 1000 bucks per person for an overnight stay which included one dinner, breakfast, lunch and activities like carrom, chess, badminton, etc.

All in all, this place is worth if you are going out with a group of 5 or more people and if you aren’t expecting too much. Don’t forget to carry your playing cards, football and such stuff because you can’t do much on the beach.

If you can avoid it, you won’t miss out much of it. But if you need some peace, less activities and want to write some good poetry, this place is for you :P
