Tuesday, 9 April 2013: The field has been finalised for Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Derby at Randwick where It’s A Dundeel looks poised to claim the 3YO Sydney Triple Crown.

Ten runners have accepted for the $1.5million feature where It’s A Dundeel has been installed as the $1.25 favourite after Fiveandahalfstar was ruled out of the event overnight.

It’s A Dundeel faces four of the rivals he accounted for in consummate ease when contesting the Rosehill Guineas last start while the like of Philippi and Hippopus coming out of the Tulloch Stakes add an extra element.

Philippi is second favourite for the event after a career best win in the Tulloch Stakes where Hippopus chalked up his first Group placing.

If the short priced favourite manages to win on Saturday, he would become the first horse since Octagonal in 1996 to claim the 3YO Sydney Triple Crown.

UCLA recruit Mackenzie McDonald will attempt to become the first Boys 18s back-to-back winner since Grey King in 1971-72 at the 46th annual ASICS Easter Bowl, the nation’s elite junior tennis tournament, April 7-14 at the Sunrise Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The ASICS Easter Bowl is a USTA National Spring Championships in boys’ and girls’ 14s and 16s and an International Tennis Federation Grade 1 level tournament in the 18s. In the Boys 18s Division, McDonald will have to contend with Rockville Centre, N.Y.'s Noah Rubin and Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla., seeded numbers one two respectively in the Boys 18 Division. The winner of the boys and girls 18s this year will receive a wild card entry into the main draw at the U.S. Open Juniors and a USTA Pro Circuit Futures event.

In addition to Rubin leading the Boys 18 Division, the Girls 18s Division is Jamie Loeb of Ossing, N.Y., seeded number one, followed by a fellow upstate New Yorker, Louisa Chirico of Westchester, N.Y., and number two, and the three seed, Marika Akkerman of Toronto, Canada.
