Track update:
As of now we still have access to the Jackson County Sports Park track. I had a long conversation with the SO Karters at our last meeting. As many of you know but some may not I also race gokarts and am a club member of S.O. Karters, the club that holds the lease to the track.
What happened was basically a perfect storm. There were other events held @ the track that were in no way affiliated with DE. There were major problems with these events and our last winter event with a very slick track and a unfortunate mechanical failure involving broken wheel studs being made into a video that rasied some eyebrows... The karters made a decision to not rent the track to anyone other than the autocross club. We were lumped into that group and were not the only ones excluded.
I explained at the meeting that we do have a very strict rule book and we do conduct our events we the utmost care and with safety number 1 priority. That we have a great group of drivers that police themselves and the pits. I also informed them of the good we do from helping local charities, providing a safe place to drift, launching careers and of course our stewardship of the track.
So with this being said the SO Karters have agreed to let us hold our Medford Cruise event at the track this yr! They will then evaluate how the event went and make a decision for future events.
I understand fully the karters concerns. The track has taken a great deal of work to make it what it is today. Paving is astronomically expensive. Take what you think it would cost and times it by ten... But I know we as a group will only help improve the facility. We do have a number of friends within the SO karters and its up to us to show them who we truly are :)

Spent most of the day being the Easter bunny. Took baskets to my kids and Nathanial, then we all (except for Steph who is in Oregon) went to West Seattle to deliver to Dan and Kate and to enjoy a great lunch together. Then home for a two hour nap to recover from playing poker til 1:30 in the morning yesterday. Spending tomorrow getting ready for a trip to Montana, where the sun is shining, and it's nice and warm.
