If you are worried about what's happening in Korea, here is an analysis provided by someone who is presently living in
South Korea (taken from a post on Eddie Moebes page.) Provides an interesting perspective ..... maybe not nearly as bad as we are led to believe by some of the leading media reports.

Jackie Johnston
Several people have asked me about the North Korea situation. At first I thought their questioning was more about the media representation, but then I realized they were seriously concerned about a possible attack from North Korea. Here's my basic response to this situation (it's not an original set of ideas, but it's persuasive to me):
1. Overall, South Koreans are not too concerned about this, in part because they are used to hearing this kind of thing evern 18 months or so.
2. The international news that I've seen (Fox, CNN) are DRAMATICALLY overblowing their coverage, which is nothing new for them.
3. People like to talk of the North Korean as a bunch of crazies with no sense of self-preservation. Although they are a bunch of crazies about a lot of issues, they are not absolutely reckless and willing to risk total devastation by attacking first. That is, if they really attacked the South Korean population, the counterattack from the South and the US would basically obliterate the entire country.
4. In the past, North Korea has not gotten very much from the international community by asking, but it has had a lot of small victories by threatening an attack. It's very easy to think that threats are one of their main ways of getting international favors.
5. There are still South Koreans working in North Korea right now, even with the Kaeson Industrial complex official closed. These workers are not hostages and have been allowed to leave, but refused. This should be a sign that the firey rhetoric is perceived by many people close to the situation to be just that, rhetoric.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that it seems very, very unlikely that I or anyone else in South Korea's mainland are in danger from the North. If anything, there will probably be some small scale skirmish on an island off the coast or something similar that will make China get off its ass and tell North Korea to settle down. If you want to worry about somebody, worry about the South Korean soldiers who might get caught up in that kind of skirmish.

Many very brilliant teachers, engineers, lawyers, physicians, soldiers, development communicators, nurses, social workers, etc...are dying to get promotions but they lack "qualifications" including years of training so they cannot be promoted. But Bam Aquino and Nancy Binay will be Senators. Where are North Korea's missiles when we need them?

It seems appropriate to quote from my own Astrological Forecast for this week: "Watch North Korea for the next three weeks in particular. With Saturn still retrograde and numerous planets moving into Aries (ruled by the god of war), there may be significant saber rattling between now and late April, if not the potential for an attack or skirmish."

This is exactly why I have no respect for contemporary country music. This award show was a complete joke. The artists are talent deprived. The sad thing is, there are artists out there who can actually sing, write and perform - but the industry would rather have these drones out there lowering the standard so anything will pass for country music. I still love real country music - but this watered down horse shit they call country these days ... SUCKS!!! and I'll skirmish with anyone who says otherwise ! LMAO

STYMIE---- A ball whose path to the hole is blocked by another ball is said to be "stymied," and under current rules the impeding ball is marked and moved. At one time, such shots had to be played by making the ball hop over or curve around the impediment, but a notorious, deliberately laid stymie during extra holes of the 1951 English Amateur Championship led to a modification of the rule, first in Britain and then, a little later, in the U.S. Other important rule changes and the circumstances under which they were made:

LIMIT SET ON TIME SPENT SEARCHING FOR LOST BALL: "The Lang, Lang Combing of the Glen," 14th hole, Loath Links, October 11, 1871-April 8, 1872

UNORTHODOX SWINGS AND CLUBS DISALLOWED: Lacrosse player Francois Foisette wins the Canadian Open, 1899

"ELIGIBLE PLAYER" MORE FULLY DEFINED: Kabu, a chimpanzee, wins the Calcutta Open, 1901

PLAY STRICTLY PROHIBITED FROM LIES BEYOND THE BOUNDARY of A COURSE: "The Mashie Incident," British-Chinese border skirmish, Hong Kong, 1909

FOURTEEN-CLUB MAXIMUM ESTABLISHED: "Relatively Bloody Saturday," the Caddy Strike of 1926

DISCONTINUANCE OF TOURNAMENT PLAY PERMITTED: "The Battle of the Glorious Leg-of-the-Dog 15th," third round of the Spanish Open, Valencia, 1937

BALL REMOVED FROM COURSE BY DOG DECLARED UNPLAYABLE: A.S.P. C.A. v. U.S.P G.A., 31. U.S. 564, 1948

North Korea will probably carry out a small military attack in the region so the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, can brandish his power, the chairman of the U.S. House intelligence panel said today.

“I do think there will be some small skirmish before this is over,” Representative Mike Rogers, a Michigan Republican, said in an interview at Bloomberg News headquarters in New York.

North Korea has threatened to carry out pre-emptive nuclear strikes against the U.S. and South Korea, a move that escalated tensions in the region and prompted calls for dialogue.

“I almost think they are looking for some small engagement so that he can brandish his credentials with the military,” Rogers said. He called Kim’s behavior “brazen” and said the new dictator is surrounded by “hardliners.”

A military attack may be similar to previous actions such as North Korea’s sinking of a South Korean ship in 2010 or a later attack on the border island of Yeonpyeong, Rogers said.

They would be “planned events,” Rogers said, cautioning that heightened tension within North Korea could also lead to unplanned scenarios.

“What you worry about is everybody on high alert, itchy trigger, something sets it off and it spirals out to where they can’t stop it,” Rogers said in the interview. “That’s obviously troubling.”

After his accession to the throne and the dramatic death of Afzal Khan, Aurangzeb sent Shaista Khan as viceroy of the Deccan with a large army to defeat Shivaji. In January 1660 Shaista Khan arrived at Aurangabad and quickly advanced, seizing Pune, the center of Shivaji's realm. He also captured the fort of Chakan and Kalyan and north Konkan after heavy fighting with the Maratha.[4] The Maratha were banned from entering the city of Pune and Mughal distance from the locals turned out to be an error. On the evening of April 5, 1663, a wedding party had obtained special permission for holding a procession. Shivaji and many of his nearly 400 men disguised as the bridegroom's procession members entered Pune. Others entered in small parties dressed as laborers and soldiers of Maratha generals serving under Shaista Khan. After midnight, they raided the Nawab's compound and then entered the palace in an attempt to assassinate Shaista Khan.

Shaista Khan was clearly unaware and unprepared. The Marathas broke into the courtyard of the palace and slaughtered the palace guards. Shaista Khan lost three fingers in a skirmish with Shivaji, while his son was killed in an encounter with the Marathas in the palace courtyard. Forty attendants and six women were also killed. Taking advantage of the confusion and darkness, the Marathas escaped the palace and Pune, despite the widespread camping of Mughal forces. Shocked by the sudden and bold attack in Pune, Aurangzeb angrily transferred Shaista Khan to Bengal, even refusing to give him an interview at the time of transfer as was the custom....

Why am I posting this today? Bcoz The Great Shivaji cut his three fingers 350 year ago on same day.
