Asks teachers to come upto the expectations of people

SRINAGAR, APRIL 08: Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today urged upon teaching fraternity to come up to the expectations of the people by utilizing their experience, skills and qualification for the welfare of society.

Mr. Tara Chand assured the teachers who perform well shall be awarded while stern action shall be taken against the poor performers. He directed for constituting a committee which shall examine the teachers on the basis of their performance during last three years.

This was stated by Mr. Tara Chand while responding to the demands put forth by the various deputations of Teachers forum, Lecturers forum and other representativeswho called upon the Deputy Chief Minister at Winter Secretariat here today.

To streamline the education policy for restructuring the quality education and better results, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government has set up a panel of educationists to give suggestions for framing an education policy for the State and directions have been already given to constitute a committee for recommendationsin this regard.

Responding to the demands put forth by the deputationists regarding the transfer of Lecturers, Teachers and Rehbar-e-Taleemteachers, the Deputy Chief Minister said that their demands shall be looked into on priority. He also said that the period of service rendered by the teachers in remote and far-flung areas shall be curtailed by one year.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that teaching is a noble profession and teachers are the nation builders so they should deliver their best with dedication and devotion and come up to the expectations of the society.

While hailing the efforts and steps taken by Mr. Tara Chand in reforming the School Education department all the representativesunanimously said that Mr. Tara Chand has actually taken steps on ground rather than hallow promises. They said that various issues including departmental promotions which were a long pending demand of teachers, Masters and Incharge lecturers have been fulfilled.

The Director, School Education, Kashmir, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Rather was also present on the occasion.

“We want to ask those who preach us to forget Afzal, how they manipulated August 9,1953 incident and used that for its political benefit”, reads the statement.

Our connection to the past keeps us steady and aware of who we are but sometimes we can be our own worse enemy. I recently went on an enchanted journey with a wizened dowager on an adventure of reflection, recollection and re-encounter. It was indeed lovely to have been able to chaperone our family's matriarch as she revisited the playgrounds where she frolicked as a child, toiled as a youth and was shaped as a ingenue. Her eyes pooled with emotion as she saw friends, family and even the occasional folly. Her emotions ran high and swung the pendulum from great delight as she re-counted the blissful days of childhood to great sorrow as tearfully recalled the harsher realities of young adulthood against the great political upheaval of a nation trying to save itself.
We saw great friends, many from over sixty years ago. We visited nostalgic homesteads, where the world seem so infinite and full of delight.
We also strolled along the same streets, now ravaged by time and upheaval.
We met previously undiscovered family members who reminded us of the great times past, the difficult times in the recent past and the hope of a new day ahead.
Oh Lord, help us to live in your days and to know that you will always be there to guide us in our journeys...amen.
