I am having a great deal of difficulty with the reaction of many people born from 1984 onwards with respect to what they actually knew of Thatcher. Yet, quite shamelessly, they rejoice in the death of a human being.

I struggle to see how these same people who benefited from a free University education where they clearly received a long period of socialist indoctrination can say they personally had a single thing that affected them. They were at best, 7 years old.

It is a great shame that those rejoicing in the death of a former great leader. A woman who was arguably the best peace time leader this nation has had, who did have many faults, but at the same time turned this country around.

I remember queuing for bread in the mid 1970's due to a baker’s union strike. The candles coming out during the power cuts! The school's being closed due to wildcat teachers strikes. I remember a whole three months off School in 1983 when the cleaners and other service workers strikes. This closed Schools for months.

Sitting in both junior and senior School freezing because the tanker drivers were on strike. Losing money on my paper round because the journalists went on strike and then losing more when the bloody rail workers went on strike too.

Then shall we get on to the terrorist threats? She showed no hesitation in sending in the SAS when it came to Libyan, Iranian, Palestinian and Irish terrorists. After the 30th April 1980 and the Iranian Embassy Siege, this country and its citizens were a regular target. She did not pander to them. Both in London and Mogadishu. The net result, no more high jacking of British airlines, no more attacks on Embassy’s.

My life as far as I remember from 1975 through to 1986 was a whole long list of strikes.

So, before the champagne socialists on Facebook who were not even born in the 1970's let alone the mid 1980's keep on jumping for joy, remember, you were not even born then.

This country was on its knees and it took someone with real balls to face the unions. It took someone who was a real hard head in facing other nations down who thought they could take advantage of the UK. Thankfully we had someone who had balls, but did not need to think with them.

Thatcher was not perfect, but by God, given a choice between her or Labours Michael Foot or Neil Kinnock!
