Today, is a BIG day in my life story! I'm telling you this is WORTH the read. Today has been a prayer waiting to come true... But it felt like SUCH a long shot (and for good reason too)! Today is much like the title of my Sports Illustrated article title from a few days ago, "Redemption Shot."

For lunch today I will get to see one of the absolute best friends I've ever had for the first time in THREE years! He is the best friend that I cultivated my passion of mma fighting with, the best friend who I coached at his first professional fight, the best friend who got me and then coached me at my first professional fight. By now you might be wondering why is this my first time to see him in such a long time? Well, I screwed up ROYALLY! So much so that I might be able to meet his wife and children for the FIRST time in my life this weekend...

You see, exactly 2 years & 11 months ago I came out of being in the most disgusting, dark, and dangerous place I have ever been personally. I was a depressed, drunk, drug addict and the man I will get to see today I deeply damaged on a personal level. Because of my drinking and drug habit I missed his wedding... And not only that but I missed being his BEST MAN. I certainly was a hurting dude, that really hurt other people, often.

Today I get another opportunity for my life to become more full circle. Today I get to look into the eyes of one of the best friends I have ever had who I hurt extremely bad... And ask him for forgiveness. I've done so by text, I've done so by email, I've done so by voicemail, but none of that is a replacement for the healing that can and I believe will come from TODAY. I definitely don't deserve the forgiveness, but that's why I depend on grace given, a present offered.

My hope for those reading is that this will give you HOPE! That it will inspire inspiration and that it will encourage courage to bubble up from within you. If there was any friendship I've had that was "too far gone" it was this one. You have HOPE for forgiveness in your friendships, reconciliation in your relationships, and healing in your hearts! I thank God for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. I praise him for 2 million, 3 million, and 4 million chances to make things right!

Today I FEEL like something great is going to happen... Today something GREAT is going to happen! I can smell greatness brewing! Tomorrow my buddy will come into one of the OKC juvenile detention centers with me and hear my personal story (a story he is in) from the depths of depression to how I came out of it. Together tomorrow we will look eyeball to eyeball with kids that most of society has labeled as worthless and tell them they are WORTH it. Tomorrow we will walk behind the razor wire with a FRESH life example of encouragement. Tomorrow I believe we will be a walking, talking, breathing example of HOPE! Gotta get through TODAY first though :-)

There are no average days, everyday is a good day, each one is a gift, each one could be our last, sieze the day, LIVE to love, LOVE to live!

Parents: one of our Facebookers said that her son’s baseball practices and games were canceled until April 13th because of the oil spill. The baseball field is on the same grounds as Mayflower Elementary School. It seems that if there is cause for concern because the fumes are hazardous. She is concerned about the children who are at school and at Miss Bee’s daycare. They say the air quality results are “not likely to be a threat”. Exactly what does “not likely” mean? Is everyone overlooking the phrases that the media is saying? That phrase “not likely to be a threat” sounds like a black tar pit itself. If I buy a lottery ticket, I am “not likely” to win, right? But there is the possibility that I might win. Do we want to treat our children like a lottery and hope they don’t get sick? I think there is a lot that people are missing. I know the immediate danger is the spill itself, but I’m more concerned with after Exxon is gone and the affect it will have on our children. Should we, as parents, call the hotline and be put on some type of ‘reserve’ claims list in the event our children do get sick long after Exxon is gone?
