So I was playing Flow Free (a game I do not recommend by the way since it will suck all the time out of your day) on my Kindle. I had one of the puzzles that was giving me fits and I worked on it about 15-20 minutes. I finally decided to take a break and set it down on the coffee table. About the time I set it down, John-John, my 5 year old grandson walked over, looked at it about 3 seconds and said, "Oh here you are Grandpa" and made 2 moves and finished the puzzle. He is now out of the will.

Today was pretty much spent doing archery stuff. Doing final sight in for Spencer. Helping do some setup at the Arizona Cup. And tonight - buying stuff for the tournament.

So, since today was a boring day by all perspectives, here's two stories from today that you'll all like.

One - never have OCD and be a grocery store checker.

We all went to go buy supplies for the Arizona Cup. At the checkout line, the checkout lady was busily sorting items AFTER she bleeps them for the price.

Here she is, rooting around to sort everything by box size, type of food, whatever - then she bags it.

Wow. This was the most fascinating and painful checkout time I've ever seen.

Two - when shooting an archery tournament, expect to lose arrows.

At the Ben Avery FITA practice range, there was Spencer, myself, Bob Furman (a local longtime archer), a unnamed barebow archer, and two Eastern Bloc men who was an archer/coach pair.

The Eastern Bloc archer had a hardly worn Hoyt V-Neck shirt, a brand new Hoyt Pro Comp Elite with stock strings that have not gotten dirty, a dozen shiny new X10's, a new Shibuya sight, bright new B-Stinger bars, and a brand new TRU-Ball HT Brass release.

The gentleman was very annoyed that Spencer was there. He and his coach was even more annoyed that Spencer was outshooting them. They were shocked that Spencer was so casual about killing 3 nocks and two pins....in practice. Spencer pulls spares and fixes his arrows as he's walking back.

After about 6 ends (where Spencer was verifying sight marks for both his Ultra Elite's), the Eastern Bloc archer dumps a low 7 and his X10 explodes.

I've seen archers do meltdowns before - they were kids. This person? Totally lost it. Yes - he hit something embedded in the bale. Yes - he lost an expensive arrow. Is that part of archery? Yes. Get over it.

When it's clear, they stomp downrange, start tearing down the bale, and try to recover the stainless steel point. Yes, a stainless point.

Once they recover the stainless point, they stomp back to the waiting area and then commiserate the loss of an arrow. Yammering away, you can see they are extremely agitated.

On the next line clear, they march back down and start documenting the location where the X10 grenaded. Their intent was to make Ben Avery pay for the damaged (well, destroyed) arrow.

Anyhow, they go ahead, pack up, roar off in their recent model BMW with Nevada plates, and leave for the Sporting Clays office where the archery check-in is held.

So, I'm interested in seeing how they act tomorrow.
