Apologies for the poor updates. The few times I have gotten connected it has been a struggle just to get weather information. A lot has happened in the last two months. I guess I will have to write a book. . .

We stopped in a small cove just above Isla Asuncion. This is about 40 miles below Bahia Tortugas which is where we were headed from Cabo. We needed two and a half days and the weather window was only two days. The winds on the second day picked up to 30kts and we were forced into Bahia Asuncion for the night. The following day, we tried to make the last of the trip, 48 miles to Bahia Tortugas but were forced to turn back to the small cove where we spent our fourth night out of Cabo. Only seven miles from where we started and having traveled over 30 miles. We then again left at 6am with the hope that the night thermal winds will calm the seas for us to make the trip, which they did. As we were turning into Bahia Tortugas the wind was picking up to 25kts. A big change from the time I was here last with Stella Marie when it was flat calm.

Trip from Cabo was very bouncy with the waves from several directions. Wind was not so bad, it is always the waves that get us. Our daily runs were down to 150 miles. We saw our first fog and the temperatures have really dropped. Water is into the 40°s and the air is 50-60. I didn't think we would be shocked so soon.

Now sitting here in Bahia Tortugas we play the waiting game. There are also five other yachts, four sail boats and a mid size motor yacht, all waiting. Next window looks to be Wednesday which should be big enough for us to make it to San Diego.

The catamaran is turning out to be real nice along the coast anchorages. It does not roll and to be able to sit inside nice and warm and look out to all around. We had a chance to try the heater selection of the new air conditioner I installed las fall. One of the systems failed, as I found out on this trip, was a bad installation by the builder. The newer replacement system has a reverse switch which allows it to cool or heat. Same as a heat pump on a house. But with the amount of fuel it must use in the generator, I can see I will have to install a diesel furnace for next winter in Sausalito. But first we will have to get there.

So far we have traveled over 3500 miles since leaving Puerto Rico. Now it is down to the last 750 to go to Sausalito. With the looks of the weather so far. . . we will arrive on or about the 26th, two more weeks or so.
