This weekend we closed out our cheer season... All 7 of our teams walked away from the competition wearing Nation Champion jackets! Kieran's Mini 1 team received a best choreography award, Marra Mizikar's Youth 2 team had the highest Level 2 score out of the entire competition earning them the Level 2 Grand Champion title! Our Jr. 3 team had the highest Level 3 score out of the entire competition earning them the Level 3 Grand Champion title! Our Reigning Queens Sr. 3 team ended their season as an Undefeated team!! All of these trophies, banners, jackets, and titles are really nice but the BEST part is the self confidence, the self worth, accomplishment, the feeling of team, the extended "family" my kids feel when they are at HotCheer!

IN MEMORY OF MY ILLUSTRIOUS BROTHER LATE DR. SHAMSHUD DOHA
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, MYMENSHING, BANGLADESH

This is a kind of recapitulation from my memory. My brother died 39 years back in 1974, at the age of only 42. It was a tragic and irreparable loss to his and our family and the nation as a whole.

Shamshud Doha was born in his Maternal grand parents house in Shakchar, Laksmipur, Bangladesh. Among his 14 siblings he was second. 6 of his siblings died very early. of the remaining 8 he was the first to die early leaving the remaining ones to cross 60 years and are still living. His parent Moulavi Lokman Hakim lived more then 100 years and mother Siddika khatun also lived about 90 years. Both the parents were very humble, religious and respectable in the society. His Maternal Grand father Moulavi Abdul Ghani was also very respectable person in the locality.

From Boyhood Shamshud Doha was very different, calm, very modest, respecful, intelligent and talented person. Relations and neighbors predicted that this young man one day will be a man of letters and attainment. Their prediction came true.

He was to his father as LIGHT OF HIS EYES. The son also loved his father so much so he used write a letter to father every week through out his life. His last letter received by father after his death. This is something extremely rare and unique as symbol of father son attachment.

He had his schooling from Laksmipur Model High school from 6th grade to 10th grade. He was all along the first boy in the class. He was very much loved by his teachers, Head master Abdul Ghoni, fellow students and neighbors, family and friends where he lived. He passed his matriculation examination with letter marks in 4 or 5 subjects in the year 1951. It was not an ordinary feat at tht time. After his exam he translated one English novel in Bengali that i could not comprehend after my Masters degree. His writing neat, clean without any mistake. It is not an ordinary feat.

He did his Intermediate in science from Dhaka College with similar distiction. Later he did his Hons and Masters in Biology from Dhaka University with very good grade. At first he joined Horogonga College Munshigong as science teacher. Later he joined Sylhet M. C. College as lecturer. From this college he got the coveted Full Bright Scholarship for doing his PhD from Michigan State University, USA. He finished his PhD in record 2.5 years with flying colors.His subject of thesis was FRESH WATER FISHERIES IN EAST PAKISTAN. Before he left for the USA he married the eldest daughter of Professor Muhammad Ishaque, a very illustrious teacher of History of our country. Dr. Doha had one son and 3 daughters of which the son died very early. His 3 daughters are survived and living happily in the US.

On his return from the U.S he joined University of Agriculture, Mymensing as a faculty which position he held till his death. Agriculture University produced its first PhD under his tutorship. He went on a post doctoral research UNDER A SEPARATE SCHOLARSHIP IN ASEAN COUTRIES BEFORE HIS UNTIMELY DEATH. Dr Doha has to his credit more then 65 publications in his short span of career.

He was very loving father, loving son, loving and caring brother a very wonderful person of head and heart. To me he was like a guide, a philosopher, a beacon of light, a fatherly person. His untimely death was a an irreparable loss to his family and us. We hold him in loving memory as fresh as he is living with us. He is my role model as he is so to many many of his relations, students and neighbors. We are very proud of him. We pray for the well being of his children and him in the heaven.
