IRAN NUCLEAR DISPUTE WITH WORLD POWERS:THE ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL IMPLICATION OF NEGOTIATION AND NON NEGOTIATION (2)
BY
ABBATI BAKO
The question that has been in the mind of political experts is whether the Tehran's claimed to have nuclear capacity is real or pipe dream? Iran has been struggling to have nuclear capacity since early 50s. The confession made by Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad that Iran is now nuclear nation power;could be counted among nuclear capability nation? Let's see the nuclear arm race stock file of most powerful nations: " USA 8500 China 240 France 300 UK 225 Russia 11,00 Japan 0 (source Time Magzine August 22, 2011, page 34). What of Tehran? But if Iran is nuclear capacity nation;why the west/Israel failed to take millitary action? Here where the political jugement comes in;whether or not to take millitary action or to continue political negotiation and rhetoric. The most difficult thing in political science or its practicality (according to experts) is prediction and jurgement on what decision or action will be taken on issues. Because all perspectives has to be taken into consideration; economy, social and political implication of such decision or jurgement to be delivered. At this jucture I subscribed to the view of Professor Albena Azmanova of University of Kent, UK, in her book titled "The Scandal of Reason: A Critical Theory of Political Judgment. London, 2012” “The solution I propose to the judgment paradox is the following: rather than shun the scandal of reason, we should embrace it. We should position our judgment on the critical interzone between dogma and skepticism – this is where what I call “critical deliberative judgment” resides. This means that our choices should be guided not by grand, ideal theories of justice (professing liberty, equality, democracy, human rights, etc.) but by our asking three practical questions: who suffers, why do they suffer and what can we do to reduce suffering. As Theodor Adorno once remarked in a debate with Ernst Bloch, we might not know what is right, but we usually know that something is amiss, that something is wrong, and this feeling of injustice (rather than an ideal of justice) is the most reliable guide available to us”. So the most difficult issue for our political decision/policy makers in the world is how to make the right political jugement that will positively or negatively affect the current generations and the generations yet unborn. The Iraq scandal must be a case study and caution must be taken in the case of Tehran nuclear issue. I understand that millitary action agaist Iran may lead to economic aridity or shambles all-over the world; the oil being the wheel of world economy.

Hehehe...everyone is cooked. If Al Bashir lands here kesho and is not arrested blame it on Kibaki and Raila who are still in power. If he will still be here a minute after swearing in on Tuesday blame it on his fellow suspects Uhuru and Ruto who will then be in power. I guess he will be in both times.

Egypt’s Morsi says no Nile River crisis, fears abound

CAIRO and ADDIS ABABA: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Saturday attempted to dispel fears that rifts were continuing to create tension between Egypt, Sudan and the rest of the Nile Basin countries. His comments came after months of wrangling after a report suggested Egypt was ready to attack Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam project if it went forward.

“Egypt’s ties stumbled in the past, but now we are together, with possibilities of enhancing cooperation that satisfies the interests of all sides,” Morsi told reporters at the end of a two-day visit in Sudan.

“Mutual talks in this respect are currently ongoing, and we welcome the restoration of old relations with Africa,” Morsi added.

However, he did not talk specifically about the demands of other Nile Basin countries, including Ethiopia, which has long pushed to have their own rights to the world’s longest river. Sudan and Egypt are seen as two allies and stalwart in their antagonism against other Nile River countries, especially concerning any dam projects.

Despite Egypt and Sudan’s war of words against Ethiopia and the dam project, Addis Ababa has said it will go forward with the project as part of its energy needs.

A source close to the Ethiopian government and those responsible for the massive Nile Renaissance Dam project has told Bikyanews.com that the government is expected to increase efforts to push forward on the construction of the large dam project that has left Egypt and Sudan frustrated.

“It is serious that the government here is looking to increase productivity on the dam project,” said the source, who has worked in the higher levels of the Ethiopian government over the past two decades. “It is a result of the public antagonism that has been leveled at Ethiopia over Nile water and what is believed to be the right of any nation to use its resources for the betterment of its own society.”

It is the latest in the ongoing battle for the world’s largest river’s water, with Egypt and Sudan continuing to remain obstinate in amending any of the colonial treaties that guarantee their countries with a lion’s share of water from the Nile.

Wikileaks released documents this month that revealed Egypt and Sudan had been planning to attack an Ethiopian dam project to “protect” their rights over Nile water based on colonial era treaties.

In documents revealed by Wikileaks, the Egyptian and Sudanese government appeared ready to develop a launching pad for an attack by Egypt against the dam.

Wikileaks has leaked files allegedly from the Texas-based global intelligence company, Stratfor, which quote an anonymous “high-level Egyptian source,” which reported that the Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon said in 2010 that Egypt “would do anything to prevent the secession of South Sudan because of the political implications it will have for Egypt’s access to the Nile.”

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the World!

John was a witness to the death of the Lamb of God, Jesus, on the cross. About sixty years later, John was on an Island called Patmos. He was all by himself one Sunday morning, praying and singing, and Jesus came and visited him. John received a vision that helped him understand completely what had happened in Jerusalem that afternoon when Jesus died. Jesus had died on Friday, but he had risen from the dead on Sunday morning.

That morning on Patmos, the Risen Lord visited John in all his glory. He spoke to John in a voice like a trumpet blast, and he said,

Do not be afraid;
I am the first and the last, and the living one.
I was dead, and see, I am alive forever and ever;
and I have the keys of Death and of Hades.
Revelation 1:17-18

Later this same John was given a new vision. This time he was in heaven itself, before the throne of God. It was a grand scene and the magnificent creatures of heaven were praising God with full voice. Yet there was something new on the day John visited heaven. The one seated on the throne, Holy God, had a scroll in his hand. It was a scroll written with the destiny of the world, the things yet to come. There was great anticipation for the scroll to be opened, but there was no one found worthy to open what God had sealed. None of the angels were worthy. None of the archangels were worthy. None of the glorious elders were worthy.

Then John heard that one was coming who was worthy. He was called the “Lion of Judah,” the “Conquering King like David.” He was coming, and he would open the scroll.

But John saw neither a Lion or a King. He saw a Lamb, a Mighty Lamb, a Wise Lamb full of God’s empowering Spirit. He could see this Lamb had suffered a mortal wound, a cut throat. But he was not dead, he was standing tall, taller than any of the creatures of heaven. He took the scroll from the hand of God, for he was worthy. And we are told that some of the worshipers of heaven began to sing a new song, a song never sung before:

You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals,
for you were slaughtered
and by your blood you ransomed for God saints
from every tribe and language and people and nation …
Revelation 5:9-10

John then turned around and he saw an even greater worship chorus and heard them break into this song:

Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered
to receive power and wealth and wisdom
and might and honor and glory and blessing!
Revelation 5:12

As we begin the season of Eastertide and look forward to Pentecost, may we, too, give glory and honor to the Lamb who was slain for our sins, who loved us so much that he endured the shame and pain of the cross, and rose triumphantly to never die again.
