I'm still going to keep faith. They are the horror games out of the way. Lots of positives from first half but set pieces were bad again. Wickham needs better service. Graham looks a non runner under Di Canio weight is a problem. Sess was inconsistent second half. These big players need to be big for 90 mins not just 45. Worried no shots second half. Hard game next week but anything can happen in a derby. Sure DI Canio will learn from today and ring changes. Anyway am off to find me patterned golf sweaters. Keep the faith!!!! Hwayyyyaway SAFC !!!!

Well, duh - great game, Wolverines. Super team effort as my wrestling coach used to say. Can't help but throw down a sports poem, of course. This is a bit of a cheat since it's a re-write of an older piece, but pretty substantial re-write so... 6/30

Sam catches a line-drive

to start a double-play, and that’s a surprise,
her crouched behind the pitcher’s mound
and the coach from the other team lobbing
meatballs to his own players – that’s how
it’s done these days with nine-year-old
girls – and Sam has exhibited a propensity
to be afraid of the ball, to back off from
easy throws and turn her body to olé
grounders, but this time she doesn’t
and that’s a startling thing, an infusion
of daring into her glove. I am pleased
by this, who wants a kid that’s afraid
of the ball, who might then be afraid
to raise her hand in class, to tell
an insistent boy, I said no, D-bag,
and I am glad for her instant
of sturdy, but then without even
seeming to think, without waiting
for me to yell from the sideline
as I cannot help doing – throw
it to first, throw it to first, find
that point on the map from which
the clueless base-runner has departed
without planning to return – my daughter,
who cannot throw without a whole production
of checking the position of her feet and how her fingers
are gripping, and then pulling back her arm and cocking
her head like an agitated turkey, instead whirls and arrows
a strike dead straight – a slicing bolt of a laser – bang
to the heart of the first-baseperson’s glove. And it sticks.
And my son asks me some kind of irrelevant question
about why the helmets for girls seem to fit better
on the catcher’s head than helmets for boys do,
and I try to answer him carefully, something about boys
and all our unintended sloppy, but I’m thinking of the throw,
the cutting whir, the zip through the dusk, and how
my daughter knows something now. Her brain might
not know it, but her arms, her shoulders and feet
and fingers have learned the why of this game. Have
felt its dance and it doesn’t matter if she understands
what force draws her back, what force compels her to keep
practicing and taking ground balls off her chin, that whirl,
that arrow, her wrists will whisper, her hips will whisper
you know now why we do this, now you know.

Tonight was definitely one to remember! Fuel problems plagued us all day yesterday & the problem was though to
Be solved today. More issues came into play tonight but it wouldn't us back, as we would go on to claim 3 top 3s! Started 3rd in our Non-Wing heat, jumped to the lead & won by a mile. Mechanical issues were worked on in between races & then Multi was ran. We started 2nd & stayed there, just couldn't catch the leader. Car was worked on more after that & we ran our A-Class heat. Started 6th & powered his way to runner up, gaining plenty of passing points. Non-Wing A-Main would be fine for the track we had. We started in 3rd & stayed there the entirety of the race. Multi would see a good charge, after starting 5th he would work his way up & challenge for 3rd & 4th. He would ultimately settle for 3rd & grab the final podium spot. A-Class would bring the excitement! We would start on the outside pole next to the factor 1 of Tyler Thomas. Thomas would get a good jump & maintain the lead for multiple laps. Chris would begin to put the pressure on him about 5 or 6 laps. Around lap 8 he would use the outside to zoom around the 73 of TT to claim the lead. From there on out it would be a breeze as he would fly around lap cars with eeze. After building a straightaway & 5 lap car lead a yellow would bunch the field back up. It would not effect him at all as he would take the bright yellow car straight to clean air & pull away! This claiming the win in the A-Class division of the 12th annual Ryan Craighead Memorial. Special thanks to all sponsors including Cherokee Barber Shop, Tulsa Sod & Mulch, Factory Kahne, MYCHRONTOM, Andrews Irrigation, Falcon Racing Wings, Metric Cycles, & Sawyer Chassis. We will be at Port City Raceway next weekend on Friday & Saturday night! Come on out & watch!
